I worked at Telefónica full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Leader in Latin America. Good work environment. Growing customer base in the US leveraged by strong relationships in Latin America.

    Cons

Desorganized. Confusing processes. Spanish leadership in the US are very arrogant and they do not understand the North American market. No career advancement in the US (unless you know somebody in Spain). Sales salaries are way below market average and comission plan was built to make sure you will never make money. Be content with your fixed salary or leave.

I have been working at Telefónica full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Laid-back management style. As long as you do your job, no supervisors or managers will hassle you.
    - Flexible work schedule
    - Good team and work atmosphere for the most part. Even though it is almost impossible to keep a team together for longer than a few months due to the high turnover ratio.

    Cons

    - Management keeps filling positions through staffing agencies that offer ridiculously low salaries and no benefits. Then they wonder why employees leave weeks after they are hired.

    - No room for advancement unless you have been with the company for a few decades and are friends with someone in upper management. It usually comes down to who you know, as opposed to what you know.

    - No incentives at all

    - Very limited hands on experience to be gained

    - Severe lack of leadership

    - Management does not seem to value education nor do they provide any kind of assistance with tuition or certification costs

    Advice to Management

Start taking care of your employees at all levels. Stop contracting through staffing agencies, it is demoralizing and it happens to be the main reason for the incredibly high turnover ratio. Promotions should be based on knowledge, education and/or skills instead of seniority and hook ups at the management level.

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Telefónica full-time

    Pros

Base Salary was competitive or above industry avg.

    Cons

long work hours, no gratitude, quota levels were manipulated to where the sales staff could not anchor in on goals because the attainments changed often.

    Advice to Management

Put in place a fair comp structure, reward hard work...

    Pros

Global Corporation, strong financials and job security in working in the USA for foreign employees.

    Cons

Hierarchy, does not recognize that the USA needs USA executives and employees to run the operations and not expats. Serious leadership issues with executive team that has been left in place and with new team of managers.

    Advice to Management

Manage your operations in the USA with USA managers as you would in Brazil and Spain and you will do a much better job of building a winning team in the USA. Do a better job of communicating with the employees and not managing through fear tactics.
