I worked at Telefónica full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Professional, intelligent, committed people. Management is professional for the most part. Normally good work / life balance in the UK, not so much in Spain.
    Flexible working

    Cons

    Currently going through much downsizing

I have been working at Telefónica full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Down to earth team, good contract benefits for staff, decent pay for retail full time advisors.

    Cons

Guru's do the job of an advisor and a manager but only earn £100 more than a full time advisor which is not motivating. Work life balance is not so great as we work long weekends. O2 does not run on commission but we still get punished for not hitting individual targets. Instore staff need more access to things that Customer service do.

    Advice to Management

Be more considerate about the work load you give to Guru's for what they earn.

I have been working at Telefónica part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

You get to learn a lot from this job! It will show you different types of skills especially sales experience. Convincing customers to buy and up-selling is a key element that you learn with this job. Perfect while you do something else for example, university.

    Cons

Too stressful, too much of hassle to deal with. A lot of drama because of the nature of the job.

I worked at Telefónica part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good to deal with people on daily basis

    Cons

Working 24 hours a week they expect you to be available all week and you can't make commitments.

Work 24 hours but have work as your absolutely everything.

    Would not recommend

    Advice to Management

Get ethic of work life balance

I worked at Telefónica full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Colleagues - the awesome team drive and support truly made O2/Tef a great place to work
    Good development and training opportunities
Sat at the heart of the business, making recommendations and implementing new products/plans/strategies

    Cons

Limited internal promotion opportunity - outsiders often given roles due to 'lack of experience' (even though you have been 'acting' or 'interim')
S l o w decision making - could get tied up in committees, processes and approvals, often missing market opportunity (or behind the 8 ball so a competitor takes lead)
Often makes projects / launches/products overly complicated, or water them down due to cautiousness, diluting the impact
Lack of real world view - think O2 is the best without the reality check of what is happening, or what customers really want or are concerned about

    Advice to Management

Walk the walk and talk the talk - putting customers at the heart of what we do. We lived and breathed this a few years ago, but have lost our way and make commercial decisions (rightly so) which are then dressed up as right for the customer.

Communicate what O2 is all about - the fact that your team struggle to do this gives you an idea that the market and customers are equally as lost.

Value your people (more). Give them the opportunity to prove their ability by promoting them into new roles. Hold an open, transparent application process - advertise roles rather than naming new internal hire.

More balanced pay for long tenured employees v new hires, as well as equal pay (m/f).

    Pros

    Modern building with good facilities.
Easy to move around to different teams.
Lots going on and they make an effort for charity events.

    Cons

There is a lot of micromanagement.
    Staff turn over is high.
Can be inflexible when it comes to shifts.
Expected to work 3 weekends out of 4 and most Public holidays.

    Advice to Management

Give staff a little more empowerment.
