I worked at Telekom Malaysia full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    - Your experience with TM is highly depended on the department your are in. I have been in several departments while I was with TM for 12 years. Some I truly enjoy and other I truly dreaded.
    - Careers advancement are usually at high visibility departments such as Sales, Sales Engineer.
    - If you are in support departments such as IT, core engineering, where your visibility with the management is low, it is very slow to progress in your career.
    - You learn how to play politics in the company where aligning and impressing the "right" people will bring you a long way in your career.

    Cons

    - Generally career advancement for most are slow as compared to other big organizations.
    - Salary is also much lower compared to MNC.
    - If you are into a technical field like engineering or IT, please go to another company. TM generally appreciates executive skills.
    - High technical skill employees tend to leave with at least double the pay elsewhere.
    - This is a highly political company. Your superiors tend to hold you under them and not let you advance or go to another department where you prefer because if their own benefits.
    - They preach about respect and care but mid management do not really follow it if it does not benefit them.

    Advice to Management

    - You are remove 30 - 60% of your current man power and replace them with only 20% of those who left and this new employee can do the same job or even more if you pay them correctly and manage them properly.
    - A lot of your employees from the lowest level till your upper management do things to impress and essentially without them work can still be done if not even faster/cheaper/better.

I have been working at Telekom Malaysia full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    1. People are Malaysians at heart, caring and really want the best outcomes.
    2. Leaders are positive and work closely together, we at working level do not see in-fighting among the top.
    3. Opportunity to move around different divisions ( vacancies advertised internally)

    Cons

    1. It's like working on a large ship - takes some time for nimble changes of direction or moving swiftly
    2. Becoming a bit Islamic - in head office, they broadcast the prayers over the intercom and then the Azan twice a day
    3. No hope of promotion once you are in as it's based on seniority.
    4. Current managers usually won't allow move to other divisions to pick up other skills / move away from current job

    Advice to Management

    1.Cut costs for unnecessary events....
    2. also General Managers should communicate more often on what top leaders want / expect.
    3. Please implement PRS Corporate Savings similar to how US companies match contributions for their retirement savings.

    Pros

    High pay, awesome benefits:
    1. Pay for executive level starts at RM 3.5k
    2. Low interest rate for housing loan

    Cons

Too bureaucratic, communication breakdown between top management and working level officers.
Less challenging task hence slow growth, and underutilized.

    Advice to Management

Appreciate talent and encourage internal rotations - be mindful that HR team isn't that efficient.
