I worked at Teleperformance full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pay was acceptable, and training was good

    Cons

Mismanagement at pretty much every level. Buggy software, excessive wait times to get assistance from a supervisor for simple check offs to do what we were trained to do, improper communication from management to phone operators, just an honestly terrible place to work.

    Advice to Management

More leniency during transition, and more mock calls during training

I have been working at Teleperformance full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It's great to experience Lisbon, the company home was really nice, low salary but low cost of living. Lots of different cultures at the company, you can learn Portuguese and they organize lots of free events to attend outside of work. Lots of vacation days.

    Cons

The company is build for high turnover, support staff is underpaid and overworked. If you want something done you have to be very pro-active and patience & persistance is key. KPI's and Servicelevels are more important than your happiness as an agent, but than that's to be expected at a call center. Longer term it's hard to stay here especially if you are used to an environment with lots of professionals. Lots of teamleaders treat you like a kid, lots of agents behave like kids too. It would help the leaders if they would listen to agents more as they are doing the actual work.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your agents, know what they deal with. Get rid of mixed messages from leaders and support staff. And inform your employees about their benefit and don't assume they speak Portuguese right away, it's not cool to discover you actually could take more holidays when you work Portuguese holidays then you have been told about only 12 months after you start.
Treat your employees as professionals, if you don't trust them to begin with how can you lead them.

I have been working at Teleperformance full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

A friendly and lively team, definitely develop into a 'family' on the call floor.
Cash initiatives to encourage meeting client KPIs and expectations.
Holidays are fairly easy to book and take off - however be wary if you go over your holiday entitlement because this will be deducted from your final wage.
Frequent breaks (2x 15mins and 1x30mins) - these are unpaid unfortunately.
Treats and sweets occasionally brought round the call floor.
    Opportunity for overtime where available.

    Cons

    Lack of floor support.
Managers are generally nice and friendly, but, can develop a harsh and negative attitude if approached on a "bad day".
    Long hours for little pay.
The job itself is grim, a lot of knowledge to be learnt which the training periods do not cover to the extent it should be. Almost learn everything on the job.
For the job itself I would've expected a higher wage due to the expectations of the client and the type of call queries received.

    Advice to Management

Drastically improve floor support and training materials - not just during ramp.

I worked at Teleperformance full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Convenient location
    Good looking facilities
    Employee benefits

    Cons

    Admin structure without real supervision
    Internal communication issues
Inability to retain customers due to lack of employee satisfaction

    Advice to Management

The difficulty presented during the last years to obtain new accounts, or even retain the one already on site, should clearly indicate radical steps must be taken to improve employees satisfaction.

    Pros

Open door policy, safe place, complete amenities, health benefits, sick leave and vacation leave, accessible, company perks and discounts, sleeping quarters, gym, spa, swimming pool.

    Cons

Poor annual appraisal, retirement benefits and no severance package. The company doesn't participate in covering at least portion of your HMO annual premium for your dependent/s. It does pay for you in advance but you get to be charged the whole amount per month.

    Advice to Management

Conduct under cover boss initiative to know what improvements the company needs.

I have been working at Teleperformance full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Environment at Intel was very professional, and had many very good colleagues. Tools for doing the work was always kept up to date.

    Cons

Call center mentality. People was always supposed to do technical support following scripts, that hardly worked out. Management was lacking technical knowledge and not able to understand that technical support is not a call center issue.

    Advice to Management

Give people responsibilities, and let them think for them selves, that give much more happy employees when everyone is appreciated as an individual, and not just another person on the phone.
