    I worked at Tellabs full-time

    Pros

Tellabs had a great reputation in the telecom field for many years. Had a work environment, insurance, benefits and vacation time that helped the work/life balance. Training program was great and learned a lot while there.

    Cons

Once customer started to basically get hardware for free or at a loss with promises of software updates in the future it was all downhill from there. Layoffs started to occur on a quarterly basis and many employees were just looking out for themselves and made the work environment so tense.

    Advice to Management

Never give away hardware at a loss or come up with technology that you can sell at a premium.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Tellabs full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The benefits, specifically, health coverage, 401K matching and salary were very good. The people I worked with were very hard working and friendly.

    Cons

The corporate strategy was non existent. Promotions were rare and often followed the Peter Principle with less experienced and less accomplished were promoted in front of others who seemed better qualified when they did promote from within. However, promoting from within was rare. Often times, executive levels were brought in from outside. The company failed to deliver quality products and failed to win the best customers to stay in business. They eventually were sold and are now known as Coriant.

    Advice to Management

Coriant already did alot of what I would recommend, that is get rid of the entire executive staff. However there are still some incompetent people in executive positions.
