I worked at Temple University full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The university is well-run and well-resourced overall. The general atmosphere is one of things generally getting better, which is nice--support systems and resources are abundant, and while not perfect, they seem to work pretty well and the people who make them run generally seem to want to continue improving them. In the college where I worked, it felt like those who were hard-working, smart and ambitious were given a good amount of support and opportunities to continue building the initiatives they were working on. As a whole, Temple is a large enough place that there are opportunities to move to different positions within the university. Sure, there are competing interests and conflicting ideas about how to do things best, and there were things about working there that weren't ideal, but compared to other universities/organizations, I think Temple can be a great place to grow professionally.

    Cons

The university has had some significant and highly public missteps in the past several years. The deans of the individual colleges within the university also have a huge amount of power and discretion over the operations of their colleges, and while this can be a great thing for some (if your dean is serious about investing in centralized functions, for instance), it may not be as beneficial for those at smaller colleges or units.

I have been working at Temple University part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Flexible scheduling, which is really nice as a current full-time student. I've also been an employee for the same department for over 3 years, and my bosses have worked hard to keep me employed for close to my entire undergraduate career. I also got a significant raise after two years.

    Cons

    It is only part-time work
