    Pros

Great company with great benefits and good people.

    Cons

The consumer care dep. is relatively new so there is no organization. Management is figuring it out as they go. Everyone in the consumer care department is trying to move to another department in the company.

I have been working at Tempur Sealy International full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Pay and benefits are amazing!

    Cons

Way too inconsistent hours. Could work 40+ one week and then 35- the next. When it's too slow you are forced to take a layoff. Very nice in the busy season and making $$$. Lots of lazy employees too.

    Advice to Management

Don't give one plants work to another and then lay off first plant

    Pros

Tremendously talented group of individuals, passionate about the product and committed to winning. Open to new ideas with a focus on product.

    Cons

The company legacy is the legacy. High turnover in key areas across all cross functional teams is allowing current and irrelevant competitors to steal share. Customer service and those relationships built as a result can't be replaced and is the key to future growth. Disproportionately distributed workload is evident to all and is creating animosity and discontent. Spread your people too thin and watch the the cultural fabric built over generations fray.

    Advice to Management

Develop a course and adhere to it. Be the innovative leader you profess to be.

    Pros

Clean environment on the plant floor. Great health benefits. Great discount on tempur and stearns products. New state of the art facility.

    Cons

High stress. No work life balance. Tremendous language barriers. They use undocumented workers from Burma at the Plainfield facility. No diversity in management at the Plainfield facility. Had a horrible roach problem in their breakroom.

    Advice to Management

Value your hourly workers more. Diversity your workforce.

    Pros

Discounts on beds. Insurance isn't too bad

    Cons

management has lost the respect and trust of most plant employees. Plant supervisors are very unprofessional, blatantly harrasesing employees, and instigating drama, and endless lies. Theft of product is wide spread. And there is severe racial tensions instigated by the supervisors.

    Advice to Management

Investigate Brenham management with a microscope.

I worked at Tempur Sealy International full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Benefits and equipment to perform job are fantastic! Vacation time is comparable and salary is generous. Many other departments and their employees are great partners, wanting to assist new people in building knowledge.

    Cons

Customer Service Senior Management/Director lacks leadership skills, tact, integrity, has high turnover of her managers/supervisors/trainers/analysts. Bullies direct reports in front of others if they provide input or question any concept or direction she provides and then she eventually belittles them until they leave . Goals change w/o notice or communication of plan. Direct reports are treated like minions.
Tenured hourly employees in CS resist change and it hurts Cust Svc. Two departments (HR and CS) do not agree on approach so team will never truly accomplish a transition or become a functional team and they are great people, just resistant to change. Director will meet with reps and send them to HR to complain about Supervision or Manager. Reps can run out of sick time and use weeks more without being held accountable because director doesn't want poor employee survey and company guidelines aren't clear but no one will update.

    Advice to Management

Help your middle Management by either truly telling them they will be micro managed by a woman that will attempt to terrorize them (you lost more than 10+ middle management personnel since she was hired in 2 yrs) or you could place her where she has no reports to impact and place someone in the position that can develop the couple of people you have left and your two new folks. Do 365 appraisals and do not allow your HR dept to discard all the feedback provided on how the director communicates, performs, bullies, has bias', etc.

I have been working at Tempur Sealy International full-time

    Pros

Companies morals and values, building relationship with upper management to devise an objective and accountability per account. This then allows and shows the growing and success as a team. Working independently but having the support when or if needed. Seeing opportunities and selling it in by the relationships I grew.

    Cons

Realignment of territory, more windshield time then in front of customer, new accounts without any challenge or opportunity.

    Advice to Management

Quality vs quantity - work smarter not harder
