Great Work Environment
Jan 31, 2021 - Senior Business Analyst in Columbia, MDRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Diverse mix of people that were friendly and amazing to work with. Open to new ideas and growth opportunities. Work environment was amazing and they showed they cared for their employees.
Cons
Onboarding process could use some structure.

Pros
A great work environment focusing on productivity and innovation. Management is efficient. Growth of engineer’s technical and people skills is evident. Coworkers are very friendly and intelligent. Fast growth of cloud products brings along challenging and interesting problems to solve. The option to work from home is a big plus.
Cons
Communication across diverse functional teams could have been improved further.

Listen to the bad reviews. They are not fake.

Snacks are a coddle, along with WFH. Some people are good, and many of those good folks share the same frustration.
Cons
In my opinion the cons outweigh the pros by a landslide. I feel this place is a cesspool of hate - and cliques. It seems some management tries to instill fear of employees of speaking up, or challenging management decisions. There are employees that have been there for a long time that adds to the toxic work environment. The lack of documentation for a proprietary software is frustrating. The mentioned individuals are reluctant to help. They will provide condescending responses, and management doesn't see a problem with it. You do not establish or encourage collaboration with that type of mindset. This is a HUGE culture problem. I feel that management really doesn't care about your wellbeing or career growth - it is all a facade. ONLY if it is within the proprietary realm of their software. Again, contradicting of their “innovative views” for progressing career growth. It appears that some teams thrive on weak minded individuals who can be taken advantage of. This includes career growth, and very minimal pay. Lesser than their worth. This consists of many college students who have just started their career. But ANYTHING to maximize the profit of the company manipulating expendable employees. If you choose to work here - you may be able to thrive in what some would consider “a toxic environment” since that is what you are used to. OR you may not know any better, knowing that is NOT how a work environment should be. If you are used to (or desire) a workplace that does not drain you, do yourself a favor...Do not even think about working here. As someone has said, 'Good ole boy network' appears to be here. The company is so stuck on actually making money through sales - when internal operations and development (in my opinion) are in shambles. POV from how I saw it during my time. Again - you have been WARNED. The FACT is, I resent to have worked here. I wouldn’t suggest this place to my worst enemy. They couldn’t pay me enough to come back.

Great experience

- I feel comfortable discussing and suggesting ideas to all levels of management - Compensation was higher than other offers, but the real compensation is the benefits. For example - A flexible schedule and casual work environment - Challenging opportunity in rapidly growing field
Cons
- Name recognition. Not many people I communicate with have heard about Tenable or its products. Tenable is rapidly growing, but not enough to have that big name recognition yet. - It seems like they have difficulty recruiting new people to meet the growing product demands. It is likely somewhat due to the location. I personally don't mind where it's located, but many people prefer be located more closely to DC or Baltimore.

Pros
Founders are awesome. Products are awesome but may need to change direction in future. Work environment is very relaxed (for the most part). pay is good. option to work partial week from home is awesome (some actually work all week from home)
Cons
As a vested stock-options holder; I wish they would be more frugal with their money. A lot of "research" seems to be not so much research and more development. Research should be looking at things coming down the road and preparing products for changes in the future (example would be what happens as more and more apps move to encrypted tunnels? what happens when a large percentage of your network devices cannot be locally scanned? can you track mobile users by mac instead of ip? etc. etc.)

Pros
Aside from the excellent benefits, pay, and work environment, this company cares about both the work it does and it's employees. They strive to be the best, hire the best, and treat their employees the best. What more can you ask for?
Cons
Tenable has seen massive growth in the past several years and their are some minor kinks in organizational processes that haven't yet scaled to the current size of the business.

Cons
- Toxic work environment - Leadership had no clue what direction they had to go - Bad treatment to employees, no empathy to customers

A good company for long-term growth
Oct 26, 2010 - in Columbia, MDRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Tenable has been an excellent company to work for with a friendly environment for a company that's growing very quickly. They have a market-leading product and a decent training program. I have never been denied new opportunities with Tenable and have found that they tend to reward hard work and innovation without rewarding incompetence. Tenable has been very open to sharing their profits with employees, which has encouraged loyalty.
Cons
Communication from the C-levels is great, but between departments can be lacking.

Pros
Compensation, Passion, Travel, Work/Life Balance
Cons
The environment was way too political, which had negative effects on one's ability to get work done.
