    Pros

    Product line is solid
    Good bene and salary.
Good work life balance in general
    Plentiful training opportunities
    Job security

    Cons

Teradata struggles to stay relevant in a ever more diluted market with new competitors snipping at its heals. Teradata is by the most powerful database available for any price, but management is trying to reinvent the company. As a result conflicting and crazy time wasting exercises have taken priority over actual work.

    Advice to Management

When your workers spend more time reacting to your random edicts than doing their jobs there is a fundamental problem and you should reevaluate your approach.

    Pros

    Innovating as the market changes.

    Cons

Variable comp structure (non-sales) has been heavily corporate objective focused, vs. an individual element.

    Pros

Decent base pay bonus money if the sales group makes their numbers and the solution architect snags most of the professional services hours

    Cons

Highly political. Solutions architects compete against each other to get chosen by Account Executives in presale situations. They want to monopolize the professional services hours for themselves.Turf wars over the best accounts and account executives. Managers play favorites based on drinking buddy status instead of skill and productivity.

    Advice to Management

Checkout what you are hearing in this highly politicized environment.

    Approves of CEO

I have been working at Teradata full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Loved the enthusiasm of the new go-to-market strategy. New CEO brings a passion that is exciting to be part of and sparked a passion within me to be part of something great. Lots of great people being brought on board to support this vision.

    Cons

This passion may be squashed by sales management. Sheep in wolves clothing during the interview process. More concerned with their own professional development than helping the new teams be successful. Pretty disappointing.

    Advice to Management

Just because someone can spin a story, use industry buzz words and create a pivot table does not make them an effective leader or sales manager. Re-train these people, because fear shouldn't be an acceptable management style.
