Thank you for your review. It is indeed true that "business is booming" for Terex globally as our customers ramp up again after all the COVID-19 lockdowns. The team is doing an amazing job for our customers and, yes, all this activity is resulting in plenty of opportunity for our team members to grow and progress.

Primary Responsibility is to the Shareholders

      Aug 7, 2021 - Anonymous Employee

      Business Outlook

      Pros

      - Ability to transfer to various positions internally if desired. - Culture of continuous improvement allows you to give input and make changes to an extent. - Safety is their top priority pushed in their culture. - The corporate level is quite good about communicating to the company what their future plans are and what's going on around the company at any given time.

      Cons

      - The company is very transparent that their primary responsibility is to their shareholders. This means they will do whatever necessary to try and get their quarterly reports to be as attractive as possible. Layoffs are very common when there are downtrends in the market due to the cyclical nature of the demand for many of their products. - Your experience can vary greatly depending on who you get as your direct supervisor/manager, so it's a bit of a gamble taking on a role here.

      Pros

Good work/life balance, good benefits and an all around good atmosphere. The employees were great! I miss this job! Too bad we had to shut down

      Cons

There were really no down sides. It just sucks that we’re shut down due to COVID-19. But they made sure we were straight in the end. I really miss that company.

      Strategic Initiatives Stability

      Pros

Strong local team understands and leads by example meeting or exceeding site goals and objectives. Consistently top performing site when compared across global company. Strong Safety focus with systems designed for solid complete actions showing results. Truly walks the talk on safety. Zero Harm is real. Compensation is solid when compared to local and industry averages. Strong brand recognition.

      Cons

Company is extremely exposed to the cyclical factors of the market. Immediate down shifts can be felt in less than one day, and up swings cannot be taken advantage of due to weak supply chain management. All function segments lack capable management systems. This lack of systems has company at a severe competitive disadvantage. There are two segments of business at Terex, and these are polar opposites in every aspect. In simplistic terms, one segment is expected to align to corporate strategies, and the other is not held accountable.

      Terex Corporation Response

      Director, Corporate Communications

Thanks for taking the time to post such a detailed review! It's good to see that you award Terex 4 Stars and generally recommend the Company. Some of the issues you bring up are endemic to the manufacturing sector - supply chain delays are a major global issue as much of the world gets "back to work" in 2021 - our supply chain and Ops teams have done an amazing job. The Company emphasizes Diversity, Equity & Inclusion in our hiring and development of team members, but not to the exclusion of qualifications - we seek team members who are both diverse (and that means different things in different countries and locations) and the best talent. Thanks again.

Terex: Where Quality Goes to Die

Jun 22, 2021 - Installation Welder in Watertown, SD
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Pay is decent, and benefits, although in decline, are still fairly competitive.

      Cons

Supervisors and managers care nothing for quality of work. The only objective is to get as much out as fast as possible, so they can post good numbers, shoving any defects or sub-standard work on to the next department to deal with.

      Pretty good engineering job

Jun 30, 2021 - Senior Mechanical Engineer in Oklahoma City, OK
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Engineering managers are good too work for

      Cons

Like a lot of big corporations, the executive team makes decisions that line their pockets. They are not at all concerned with what will make a long-lasting, healthy business that will employ thousands for years to come. Immediate gratification to enrich themselves is their goal.
