I have been working at Terex full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Collegial atmosphere, employees are proud to be part of Terex, politics to a minimum. The CEO is approachable, and pays attention to employee and customer satisfaction. The company promotes and fosters an environment suitable for women with the initiative Women@Terex.
Special focus on values and doing business ethically. Excellent leadership.

    Cons

Having worked in other industries, I find Terex a place to stay for a long time. There is quality of life at Terex.

    Advice to Management

Ensure that the Terex Way, and Ron's leadership style continues to be the big differentiator in the industry for employees, and customers. We can grow and achieve our goals without ever changing our identity and approach to leadership.

I have been working at Terex full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Fast paced, constantly changing, something new and different to work on every day.

    Cons

Somewhat disorganized, going through tremendous change currently, very cyclical business which seems to have been mostly down last 5+ years.

    Advice to Management

Focus, focus, focus. Instead of trying to do 20 initiatives, do 1-3 great. Use those as examples and focus on process.

Thanks for writing. It's true that focusing on a few key priorities and doing them well is the preferred way to work, and we certainly encourage our team members to do so. It's also true that in our... More

    Pros

Great pay and benefits. Terex better than their competition. Company strong financially. CEO Ron DeFeo very smart, well respected. Lots of autonomy at remote sites, maybe too much autonomy?

    Cons

Seems that good performance is less important than tight relationships with "the right people"

    Advice to Management

Many cost reduction opportunities still exist. More attention needed on contract negotiation and procurement. This difficult economy allows for aggressive negotiating. Consolidate companywide purchases for volume discounts. Headcount reduction isnt the only way to reduce your costs. Look around, be more creative, STRONGLY suggest you re-visit your IT costs, services, and contracts.

    Pros

The product is very visable . It is rewarding to see Genie Brand and Terex Brand construction equipment on job sites around the world. The senior leadership is interested in growing the company and making a difference. Terex is a "young" company meaning that there is a lot of room to grow and become really great.

    Cons

Poor communications between the divisions. It is a symptom of the many aquisitions that make up the company as a whole. Fortunately, the leadership knows it and we are working on improving it. It will take some time and investment.

    Advice to Management

Need to recalibrate the GM structure at AWP division.
