I have been working at Terex full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Good benefits and great co-workers

    Cons

No work life balance - long hours, mandatory weekends and holidays. Only certain holidays worked will have a float day given.

Training -here is none unless your team is well established and you are taking a job that the person who used to do it is still there to help you which is rare. Management prefer to let you figure it out with an SOP, make mistakes, and then ding you for them rather than give you adequate time and training to help you succeed.

Advancement not likely unless you have maximum talent and can learn on the fly.

Pay - want maximum talent for minimal wages. Will find away to minimize your merit pay and bonuses.

Team members on same team are not held to same standards by accounting manager.

    HR - poor

    Advice to Management

Develop a good training plan for incoming employees instead of assuming that your accounting leads/managers have plans in place or even train. Listen next time your employees tell you in a survey that their biggest barriers on their jobs are communication and training. They don't mean Terex training videos which have little value added for individual team members jobs or group sessions on different topics.

Define in writing your expectations and definitions. Make sure it crosses all teams and find a way to hold accounting managers to that standard instead of fudging on some team members metrics while tracking other team members down to the tiniest infarction.

Management should follow Terex values instead of finding scapegoats for their own lack of incompetence.

I have been working at Terex full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Vacation & PTO- Have a large amount of time to take off. Good overall benefits.

    Cons

Pay- pay is low, unless you are in upper or middle management. Raise amounts are a joke.
Response time from supervisors and other depts. is slow.
Not enough staff- everyone has way too much on their plates.

    Advice to Management

Supervisors actually work with the other employees. All they do is attend conference calls and meetings. Do not ever show up to the meetings they schedule on time ever. Always re-scheduling.

I worked at Terex full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Coworkers are great, they are supportive and helpful. Production lines work hard to produce a competitive, quality product. Good benefits - 5% 401k match, medical, dental, vision, and other insurance available. Employee stock purchase available.

    Cons

Nepotism is high. People placed in roles they are not even close to qualified for, and those that are great at their jobs leave. Or the company shuts down whole departments or divisions and moves them to the south where there is cheaper labor but also lower quality. That's their choice, but they are getting what they are paying for - no experience, but cheap. There is absolutely no loyalty to employees by upper management so why employees stay loyal to Terex is a mystery. This company will be split up and sold off within the next year or two.

    Advice to Management

Look at the divisions that make you money and see why they work. JLG, the CEO, has no investment in the company and said going in that was an attribute but he clearly has no idea and has appointed others who are clueless to the tasks at hand as well.

I have been working at Terex full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Benefits and being able to live in a rural area. It is seen as a job that can provide a path for career growth.

    Cons

Layoffs - always on the horizon, leadership will layoff workers and then hire due to shortages months later. There is no accountability from the directors and general managers. Most segments have the issues of a small business and the problems of a corporate entity. Morale among the workforce is terrible.

    Advice to Management

Engage the workforce, you can't lead from an ivory tower. Assure stability in the workforce, remember your employees have families and bills, be as dedicated to them as you want them to be to Terex.

    Pros

Great benefits. Usually not too long of hours.

    Cons

Continuously changing statements about where the future of the industry and the facility are heading. Also a rash of facility closings in this business segment have created an environment where everyone should be afraid for the stability of their position.

    Advice to Management

Stop closing facilities to consolidate production. Also, be on the look out for people who might have some un-utilized talents.

    I worked at Terex full-time

    Pros

The only pros i can think of is their medical/dental/vision benefit is not bad compare to other companies in the area.

    Cons

    1) High turnover: Our team had about 20 people. 6 people left through layoff ( but they are happy to leave) and another 2 are gone later.
    2) Limited resource: data quality is a big concern. Company is not willing to make investment on IT. Lots of manual operation. For example, customer rebate report, 100M, 40,000 rows, from column A to CJ, all manual calculation. Big errors likely
    3) Poor management: My management only focus on what you can do, not on where you want to grow your career. Lots of close door meetings within managers. If you are an analyst, you do not have any chance to attend any of these meetings
    4) The company growth is poor; Terex will be sold to another company because of its limited product offers and industry specific focus
    5) Too much "whispered talk. The team looks solid. But lot of people hate each other. Ladies always whisper at work
    6) Work Life balance sucks, specially during month end close

Mon. thru Thurs. 10 hr. work days.

    Cons

Supervisor always makes you stay late, even when your done with your job.

    Advice to Management

Alot of people stand around with nothing to do, and the Supervisor won't let them leave, even when they are done with their job. Your paying alot of un-necessary over time.

    Pros

Company is segmented, with hire ups pushing down orders from the top. Do your job, and finish your self assessments for bonuses. Might have to beg your manager for training.

    Cons

Little to no manager given direction. Meetings constantly, rather than getting work done. Hire in with one job, but assume multiple roles and locations for the same horrible pay. If you do your job you'll do fine, as long as you don't pi44 anyone off. Have to travel to multiple locations, and all of your expenses get scrutinized. Have to basically kiss everyone's a44 because theyre all a bunch of sissys that get butt hurt. People have jobs they aren't qualified for, but still seem to climb the "ladder". Extremely happy i'm in a new position with a better company and even better people!

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees more. Stick up for your employees, not the user base or site management. Don't fire people because theyre not "liked" by the site management or the user base. If they do the job well and get things done, that should be good enough, you cant make everyone happy.
