I have been working at Terex full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Lots of interesting projects and meaningful work; excellent values that team members try to live by; down to earth management style; team culture; strong leadership that is driving results; new policies to provide flexibility; sincere efforts to support diversity and inclusion

    Cons

So much going on that sometimes it's hard to catch your breath; if you like to stay busy and engaged, this is a good place for you

    Advice to Management

Keep focusing on the Terex Way values and the strategies that are winning in the marketplace

"Work at the AWP Division if you ever get the chance, but avoid the Westport crowd."

    Pros

This review is for th AWP division, which is primarily Genie Industries in Redmond. It's a group of honest, well-intentioned people who really care about each other (for the most part, of course.) It's small enough that one individual can really make a difference, but big enough that you have a satisfying scope to see those actions carried out.

    Cons

The Terex corporate group (Westport, CT) is unbelievably backbiting and obstructive. They used to be a rape-and-pillage acquisition company that has decided it wants to be a value-adding company. This surfaces in a myriad of corporate programs that demonstrate little awareness of what's going on outside Westport executive HQ. At the AWP division, the friendliness that is such a positive can manifest itself as an unwillingness on the part of senior management to deal head-on with crappy interpersonal behaviours or political shenaningans.

    Advice to Management

Keep listening to Team Members -- don't let yourself get isolated with just the uppermost levels of management, who all too often seem to tell you just what you want to hear.

    Pros

Entrepreneurial company with the chance for each individual to truly make a difference. Lots of opportunity to make your mark and be involved. Very global organization with excellent CEO who is open to new ideas and cares about the company and the team. Strong values that are demonstrated from the top down.

    Cons

Cyclical business so need to be ready to cope with tough economic conditions. If you come from a different kind of industry you may not be familiar with the ups and downs of heavy construction equipment.

    Advice to Management

Keep trying to pull the company together to leverage the power of one.

    Pros

Ethics - the company has a solid and well supported ethical base.
Focus - management has a first things first attitude.
Change - the company is changing, improving and growing
Strong Functional areas - HR, Finance, Operations

    Cons

Our growth into an operating company has caused the birth of a large, expensive and somewhat isolated HQ.

The company is still integrating many separate units that have strong cultures and diverse products.

The current business environment is difficult especially for anyone associated with construction.

    Advice to Management

Focus more on the field and less on the HQ environment.
    Increase Communication to all levels.
Be more aggressive on integration of systems and cultures.
