I worked at Terumo BCT for more than 3 years

    Pros

Terumo BCT embraces the technical aspects of their business and with that, Quality. There are no shortcuts in product development and they really are a best in class company.

    Cons

Things move slow there. It can be difficult to fill an 8 hour day. It can also be a little political in terms of advancement and getting support.

    Advice to Management

Inspire your teams. Terumo should be privileged as an organization to have its employees, but sometimes the organization acts as though the employees should be privileged to work for the company.

I have been working at Terumo BCT full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great people to work with. Most of the direct contributors and low-to-mid level managers are highly engaged and clearly focused on delivering the best products to our customers. Decent benefits that include tuition reimbursement and an on-site fitness center.

    Cons

Senior management/executives are highly-focused on removing "bureaucracy," but don't take time to understand the process before they decide how to fix it. Project teams spend more time meeting, arguing, and trying to justify why their project is an exception to following the process than it would take them to just follow the process. Too many project managers assigned to different aspects of the same projects..., with no program/portfolio manager coordinating, leading to redundancy and constant updating of status reports, schedules, etc. Department resourcing and budgeting for functions that are considered "secondary" to product development is largely disconnected from priorities and approved projects. Supporting departments spend a lot of time scrambling from crisis to crisis because they're spread too thin. Some petty complaints too... The on-site cafeteria and market are incredibly overpriced for the quality ($4.00+ for a 2-day-old ham sandwich that's just a soggy leaf of lettuce, two tomato slices, and a couple pieces of deli meat/cheese). The staff in Lakewood has expanded well beyond the capacity of the parking. If you aren't in by 8-8:30, you'll be parking in the overflow lots across the street or a quarter mile away.

    Advice to Management

Do actual prioritization and then make sure all the departments that need to support projects have the tools and resources they need. Keep doing Value Stream Mapping and other activities to make sure you understand the bureaucracy before you cut it. Make sure the company culture, starting with the behavior of senior leadership, is embodying compliance and safety first, and cost/expedience second.

I have been working at Terumo BCT full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Friendly environment and encouraging teams. True commitment to patients through our products. Remarkable contributions to LLS (Leukemia and Lymphoma Society).

    Cons

Consistent project prioritization is often an issue and high dependence on standard operating procedures and group decisions. Cubes are grey, ceilings are low and lights are soul sucking. Not for everyone.

    Advice to Management

Lots of turnover recently in upper management. Let's see where that goes.

    Pros

    Good benefits and good products.

    Cons

Management put in place that are not qualified, and got there not on merit but sleeping to the top. If you are a women don’t apply, you won’t get hired they just let 5 women go. HR puts mangers before employees even if there are multiple complaints.

    Advice to Management

Antoinnette, in this day in age and the “me too movement”, you as a women should be aware of what is going on in this company and working to resolve it.

    Good Company to get hike

    Cons

No Job security and no company facilities to deputed candidates.. HR connect is not there to ask any concern.

    Advice to Management

If a resource comes to bench, please try putting the resource in a project/client. Hopes of relying on a company is important for any resource.

I have been working at Terumo BCT full-time for less than a year

    Pros

You get substantial knowledge on the projects and products working with your on site counterpart engineers

    Cons

The salary(should be compensated decently but the compensation is so average), Location are a minus. There is a bit old tradition followed by the senior people in Kerala(who are working in the company)

    Advice to Management

Food provided to the employees is a great asset but could improve the quality of the food, also the flexibility in work time for engineers who work independently from the factory should be considered.
