I have been working at Terumo BCT full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great people to work with. Most of the direct contributors and low-to-mid level managers are highly engaged and clearly focused on delivering the best products to our customers. Decent benefits that include tuition reimbursement and an on-site fitness center.

    Cons

Senior management/executives are highly-focused on removing "bureaucracy," but don't take time to understand the process before they decide how to fix it. Project teams spend more time meeting, arguing, and trying to justify why their project is an exception to following the process than it would take them to just follow the process. Too many project managers assigned...

    Advice to Management

Do actual prioritization and then make sure all the departments that need to support projects have the tools and resources they need. Keep doing Value Stream Mapping and other activities to make sure you understand the bureaucracy before you cut it. Make sure the company culture, starting with the behavior of senior leadership, is embodying compliance and safety first, and cost/expedience second.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Terumo BCT full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Company continues global growth. Some flexibility in work locations for employees based on role. Annual bonus potential for all employees.

    Cons

Previous open communication was evolving so all information was tightly managed. Churn rate growing. Many positions not filled when people left the company requiring work load to increase without compensation or role redefinition. Sales targets consistently missed. Senior management not all on the same page.

    Advice to Management

Return to what made you successful - treating your employees as a valuable asset.

I worked at Terumo BCT full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great subsidized benefits, above-average entry wage, tuition benefits

    Cons

Wage stagnates against market after two years experience. Grueling schedule with off-hours and graveyard to start (only senior operators that have been there 5+ years can get on 1st shift). Little opportunity for advancement unless you're outside of the clean room. Lots of favoritism/nepotism for lower-level leadership positions. Huge gap between production level and the rest of the company. Cronyism is rampant at...

    Advice to Management

Check out the clean room culture that's evolved. Reconnect with the foundation of your company. Build a better base by paying it down- if you want world-class goods you have to provide a world-class workplace first.

I worked at Terumo BCT full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Knowing that your company is helping patients, donors, and families is the best part about this company.

    Cons

The list is so long. Unethical senior management, constantly revolving doors, large layoffs, no open communication, opportunities only for friends and insiders, low raises, complete lack of accountability, etc.

I have been working at Terumo BCT

    Pros

Good pay. Most of the people there are a pleaseure to work with and are very knowledgable.

    Cons

Marketing department is very disfunctional and not organized. A lot of people transition in and out. Not much respect for senior management in business areas. They aren't aware of what is truly going on.

    Advice to Management

Listen to staff from the bottom on up. Improve communication.
