I worked at Tesco Corporation part-time

    Pros

During my time at Tesco I enjoyed my coworker's presence. The atmosphere is extremely friendly and if you need help anyone in any department is wiling to help you out.

    Cons

Sometimes communication is a bit fuzzy between departments and it takes awhile to get some things done unless a lot of upper management gets on people to do something.

    Advice to Management

Work on strengthening communication and emphasizing main goals

Help new management with proper training and a hands on approach rather than the set up for failure approach

    Pros

Flexibility and pay are very good for most people in the Corporate office.

    Cons

Vacation is discouraged and there is a serious lack of leadership and accountability.

    Advice to Management

Hold managers accountable and show them how to hold their subordinates accountable. There is no such thing as "too much" communication.

I worked at Tesco Corporation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great opportunities for development and learning. Upper management makes themselves accessible and approachable. Travel (local/international) lets you meet coworkers away from your base location. Overall I enjoyed my time at Tesco very much.

    Cons

Make sure you document all your emails because you might get thrown under the bus a time or two. You will need the proof. Likewise, make sure you are very clear what you and your team will be held responsible for. The lack of communication causes conflict across departments and the blame game begins.

    Advice to Management

Hire (and continue to hire) HR personnel that is passionate about bettering the company, enjoys their jobs and cares about employees.

I worked at Tesco Corporation full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Fair pay and great benefit package. Room to move up within the organization. Traveled to many interesting places.

    Cons

Short notice to prep for overseas jobs.
Unfair assessment on incident which lead to being terminated. Clean record for 17 years of service prior. Felt the company could have handled it better. Learned that trust in an employers fairness can be broken. Overall, I enjoyed my time with Tesco.

    Advice to Management

Be more fair when evaluating reasons for termination. Consider ones past, clean track record.

    Pros

Good 401K match with great benefits. Time off usually isn't an issue.

    Cons

Upper management is out of touch with what really occurs at the local level. Company does not place high value on employees who have worked their way up in the ranks. Company places too high of a value on pedigrees rather than actual job experience and ability to do the job competently.

    Advice to Management

Reward the hard working employees you already have and stop looking for a new widgets elsewhere. Develop the talent you have and give back to the employees.

I have been working at Tesco Corporation full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Knowledgeable technicians and flexible work schedule. I enjoyed working in the field with no supervision and being trusted to complete tasks with trust. Pay is very competitive.

    Cons

Business is very up and down meaning you never know when you might have long periods of time with no work or pay. Training is still being developed and not up to par with the demands of the job.

    Advice to Management

Focus on sustaining the company and less on developing different services that technicians have little or no knowledge of.
