    Pros

The company offers an immense amount of on the job training, which is in a lot of cases a baptism by fire. An employee who is easily adaptable to many unexpected and sometimes very complex issues will excel.

    Cons

Company organization is forever changing. Growth is typically promoted from within and senior management rarely promotes or initiates employee training outside of "Tesco University" This leaves many upper management not formally trained for their positions which lacks the ability to apply newer or more efficient processes. Each and every organizational restructure would however initiate change to process which taxes the administration staff beyond what is achievable which generally leads towards a top heavy organization.

    Advice to Management

Start with a business plan and develop from there. Investigate and utilize sustainable systems that allow employees to strengthen and build skills for the future without the threat of new system introductions. Promote employee development beyond what is available through internal training resources. Create champions not slaves. One of Tesco's cultural views is open discourse, Senior management needs to pass down company vision better and promote a strong positive direction which would lead to higher employee morale.

I worked at Tesco Corporation full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Fair pay and great benefit package. Room to move up within the organization. Traveled to many interesting places.

    Cons

Short notice to prep for overseas jobs.
Unfair assessment on incident which lead to being terminated. Clean record for 17 years of service prior. Felt the company could have handled it better. Learned that trust in an employers fairness can be broken. Overall, I enjoyed my time with Tesco.

    Advice to Management

Be more fair when evaluating reasons for termination. Consider ones past, clean track record.

I worked at Tesco Corporation full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good R&D, Lot's of great folks working for the company.

    Cons

High level Management has lost touch with both reality and the boots on the ground. Lofty goals with little to no support to make goals realistic.

    Advice to Management

Simply putting lofty goals on paper does not make them achievable, support and action does. I would Suggest high level management not only listen to the troops, but get out of your office and hit the field to see what the districts are really faced with. Drop the holier then thou mentality. Tesco has a good product, but so does your competition.

    Pros

Lots of learning, always an interesting challenge to be resolved. The people were great. The social club had some good events.

    Cons

Before the oil crash there was an insane pace of work, often didn't get to finish one thing before the next crisis erupted.

    Pros

Higher than average salary. Easy to become perceived as high performer relative to the others in any given department.
With only a high school education anyone can become a V.P. so long as your willing to lie, cheat, steal, and suffer from delusions of grandeur.
    Low Low Low accountability.
    H.R. dominated!

    Cons

Mismanaged, poorly organized, extremely high turnover. Canadian company (clannish) disguised as U.S. based. Did'nt see many smiling faces from day to day.
    Soul sucking miserable existence.

    Advice to Management

Great job locking yourselves in for when someone comes along to scoop up the shell of a company you've left behind.
