I worked at Tesco (More than a year)

    Pros

It's a nice place to meet people from different walks of life.

    The hours are pretty flexible.

There are a lot of opportunities to move around in the business.

    Cons

Sometimes my colleagues could put a dampener on my shift.

I have been working at Tesco part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Really flexible with university students as I can freeze my contract during term time then work as I want in the holidays. They have options to learn skills on multiple departments if you wish and they have a good apprenticeship/ management scheme if you want a long term career.

    Cons

    Working on a bank holiday

I have been working at Tesco full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Totally professional team. Maintain units and trailers well. Lots of help and support from team trainers, free CPC, pay for any medical that may need to be done. They will be flexible on working times (time you may need to have time off for family or personal reasons). They like drivers to be flexible and if you put yourself out for them, it Willbe reciprocal.

    Cons

One of the best companies to work for. Very very seriously do they take any infringement on HSE or company policies or working time infringements etc. and you could be out the door. And rightly so!

I worked at Tesco part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

There was an option for flexibility and staff were made to feel valued wen they showed signs of progressing a project .

    Cons

Staff were expected to work long hours and cover gaps in shifts at very short notice which in turn affected staff morale.

    Advice to Management

Try and involve all staff with meetings that look for improving service and delivery. Staff on the shop floor have very good understanding of the inner workings of the business

I worked at Tesco part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Good pay
flexible hours for being at university

    Cons

tbh not really many Cons from only being a part time employee

    Advice to Management

Manager can often come across as they are better than lower levels members of staff. If they treated their employees with the same respect they expect to receive the place would operate smoother.

I have been working at Tesco part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

10% discount, friendly team. In terms of a starting job the salary is much better than most other supermarkets.

    Cons

Very unflexible, forced to work most weekends and getting time off is a nightmare as the department only employs the amount needed leaving others covering your shifts annoyed.

    Advice to Management

Employ more people, so never have to work alone especially on weekends... (this has happened to me several times in a busy store)
