I have been working at Tesco as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Stacking shelves is physically demanding and keeps you fitter than sitting behind a desk. Keeping an eye to expiry dates means you're thinking about prioritising the stacking of items, whilst not the most difficult of tasks it is still a responsibility. Ensuring waste is kept to a minimum is a key issue but hard to prevent. Dropping everything to deal with the customers can be both satisfying and distracting.

    Cons

More responsibilities than the pay reflects although after time the pay increases in the same role.

    Advice to Management

Some management muck in and do the basics too , like stacking, this allows everyone to see we are all trying to get the job done and frees up time for staff to ensure the store is presented as clean tidy and well stocked.

I have been working at Tesco part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I have had only good experience with Tesco. To start, as part of the stock control department, you have a wide range of options on what to do, I was set 2 mandatory tasks for each shift and anything on top of that, allows you access to more overtime (which on a sunday does pay more!)

The staff and managers are fantastic, if you treat them right, they will give you equal treatment.

As a student myself, the transfer options are great. You can apply to switch stores if you go to university, and you can come back home when the term is finished, provided you give notice.

    Cons

My only complaints up to this point, are the handhelds (PDA's) This is very specific to my store, but our PDA's are slow, old and often break which can hold up tasks.

    Advice to Management

Management is great as far as i'm concerned, so i cant come up with anything which i would change, they are fair and as i said earlier, you treat them right, they will give you the same reception.
