I worked at Tessenderlo Kerley full-time

    Pros

Close knit; fun environment but hard working satisfying

    Cons

Slow to move up or gain other areas of knowledge. Expectations of being on clock all the time.

    Advice to Management

Build up current employees, help create plans to move them through the organization. Listen and act on desires of those willing to give their all.

I worked at Tessenderlo Kerley full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Got hired without an interview. No experience required. Cheap cost of living in former Carlsbad location.

    Cons

Most employees were contractors (80%). Laid people off with no notice. Closed Carlsbad location and moved engineering to Arizona. Company was always trying to cut costs, going so far as to recycle pressure vessels where possible. Pressuring design engineers to make things cheaper even when it's false economy in the long run and will cost more.

    Advice to Management

    Don't be so cheap.

I worked at Tessenderlo Kerley (Less than a year)

    Pros

Carlsbad NM was a cool place to live and there were 2 direct employees that were good.

    Cons

Hired mostly contract personnel. Engineering manager's experience was limited as he had only ever worked there. Too much drama and back stabbing going on. Design supervisor had only 5 years experience and did not know how to manage his people. Document control thought they ran the place. The president was clueless as to what was going on with his design staff.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of all of your direct employees that are creating drama. Hire experienced management and pay them well. Pay attention to your contractors and try to treat them with respect.

I worked at Tessenderlo Kerley as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

    Fair pay. Small town atmosphere.

    Cons

Tense atmosphere, no support, not a training type of organization.

    Advice to Management

Work with your people. Even senior designers need to know each companies approach to designing. all companies do not do it the same.

    Neutral Outlook

I worked at Tessenderlo Kerley full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Small, variety of skilled individuals, unique opportunities to progress. There is usually a couple of different projects going on at the same time that allow you to work on a variety of different technologies.

    Cons

Can take a long time to process paperwork such as annual performance reviews. There is a lot of pigeon-holing as there is with most engineering positions.

    Advice to Management

Communicate more with your employees and ask what kind of coworkers they think would be qualified to do the job instead of running down the list of job applicants
