      Pros

-great learning environment in terms of nurse-physician relationships and respect

      Cons

-puts on a glossy exterior that looks great but has been declining in quality of work environment for quite some time. Ex: very publicly gave bonus to all employees at the start of Covid and then afterwards, more quietly, cut everyone’s hours and forced staff to use PTO to make up for decrease in pay. Constantly buying up new buildings and parking lots in the medical center (and Austin) while benefits decrease in quality, raises are next to nothing, and units remain short staffed for months on end. Currently blaming lack of funds on COVID but seems like building a hospital in another city might be more the issue. -has done away with most all incentives/rewards for experienced staff (I.e. it’s something like 25 years in when you get to work one less weekend day a month or something to that effect).

      Pros

Very excellent benefits; upbeat, compassionate culture; supportive work environment; leadership leads by example; fulfilling and rewarding atmosphere; co-workers are like family; we all are responsible, in a direct or indirect way, for the quality of care we provide to patients and their families, so we can all feel pride in what takes place here everyday; an awesome place to work

      Cons

Sometimes, traffic in the Texas Medical Center can be a challenge; employees are encouraged to park offsite and take Metro in to the Medical Center but you can't always depend on Metro to get you home if you've used public transportation and it storms after we get to work.

      Loved my Job There

      Pros

The hospital seemed to work as a very good team when it comes to patient care. Every employee seemed to be important in the eyes of the hospital from the housekeeping staff , lab, pharmacy , nurses and doctors. Working in an allied health profession, this is often ignored at hospitals.

      Cons

Driving to the Texas medical center. The hospital does provide bus passes for free though.

      Pros

The culture is awesome; commitment to patients is outstanding! Good pay, nice benefits (including a focus on wellness initiatives).

      Cons

The Medical Center traffic is a mess, but what else is new? The hospital offers commuter benefits to employees, which helps!
