Cons
No training structure Austin management is not in tune with field offices ERS pension plan will tax the hell out of your paycheck

Pros
Some staff are knowledgable in their respective areas. Good benefits. Easy gig.
Cons
The PM Office is under IT and projects do not get the attention they need from TDI management. Project priorities are unknown to staff. Management pushes the idea that all projects are priority. A new project priority each week. The PM role at TDI is an overglorified note taker. You take notes in meetings and provide notes to management. Few IT staff seem to be motiviated to do anything. PM's cannot track employee project hours adequately.

One of the worst jobs I have ever had

Free health insurance is available, and time off is ok, you get off state holidays.
Cons
Very high turnover- 43% in one department. Legal has very high turnover rate with constant vacancies. Legal department is poorly run with lots of yelling and accusations. You will not be treated as an adult professional. Lot of fragile egos in management and managers who are emotionally volatile under stress. Do not work here-the salary is low compared to other state agencies and the toxicity is too high. If you are fat, legal probably won't hire you anyway.

Diversity, career advancement, and pay
Cons
Brought in specifically to address problems that been brewing for years. My strong management style led to my demise. Inept leadership could felt threatened by my capabilities. Instead of correcting the ship they decided to keep standards low and return to business as usual.
