Great benefits, amazing schedule and flexibility. Very friendly staff and a lot of knowledgeable staff members to learn from.
Cons
It’s a state job, salary typically is lower than other employers. They compensate salary for benefits. If you want a higher salary, then you’ll have to jump to another position or another agency.

Pros
Some staff are knowledgable in their respective areas. Good benefits. Easy gig.
Cons
The PM Office is under IT and projects do not get the attention they need from TDI management. Project priorities are unknown to staff. Management pushes the idea that all projects are priority. A new project priority each week. The PM role at TDI is an overglorified note taker. You take notes in meetings and provide notes to management. Few IT staff seem to be motiviated to do anything. PM's cannot track employee project hours adequately.

Pros
Positive work environment, great people to work with, they offer free training to employees who wish to gain more experience, and they promote from within the agency.
Cons
Salaries are on the low side for the time commitments, management is pretty flexible, and approachable with dates for requesting vacation, and the salary increases seem to be slightly above the inflation rate for staff that stays in their current position year after year.

it's better than living on the streets
Cons
Management is unprofessional, inconsistent, & not willing to take accountability. Managers and senior examiners bully staff to the point of quick and constant turnover.. Some management has very little experience in the industry, which contributes to false projections and unreasonable expectations. Just look at the job openings; when you see the same job posted over and over again, for months, there is clearly a problem, yet the Executive branch is so disengaged that they don't bother to investigate. Texans should be outraged that tax dollars are being utilized this way.
