I worked at Texas Disposal Systems full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The people are great to work with, very smart, and very passionate. Good or bad, it has the small business feel to it, even though it has over 500 employees.

    Cons

If you enjoy making the same pay for years and years, this is the place for you. There is no bonus structure, and no raise (even cost of living) given constantly. The leadership is very old school, and takes lots of convincing to update processes into the 21st century. TDS also can be an employee mill, very few employees are there for longer than 5 years.

    Advice to Management

Take more time to invest in your employees, they are worth it!

    Pros

Some new initiatives are being implemented to take the company in the right direction. Communication is improving with a focus on finding and solving problems. The employee network is very positive, and people enjoy their coworkers.

    Cons

There is not a clear corporate structure, which leads to confusion and conflicting decisions. A clear growth plan and business objective are not in place, which makes decision making tedious and challenging.

    Advice to Management

Create a clearer management structure and levels, and hire experts in their fields to lead departments.

I have been working at Texas Disposal Systems

    Pros

For a solid waste disposal company, TDS is quickly achieving recognition as the cleanest, most environmentally friendly company in Texas. Every day there is a focus on treating the customer right, doing the right thing for the environment, and leaving everything better than it was when we got there. More acres are used for wild life than on trash. The landfill is only a tiny part of the business. With the focus on... diversion, the recycle and compost components are a testament to the goal of zero impact. This is a great company to work for, and for the customer, they can feel good about working with a company that is truly focused on doing the right thing for them and the environment.

    Cons

No one gets rich working at TDS. Like all companies, communication between departments has room for improvement. The industry as a whole has a stigma that must be overcome daily.

    Advice to Management

Never sell the company. The hard work, ethics, and values that built the company could be lost. TDS has a great thing that has been built, and by keeping it in the family, that hard work will continue to be valuable to the employees and the customers.

I have been working at Texas Disposal Systems

    Pros

Its a job until something better comes along.

    Cons

Low pay. No raises. Poor benefits. What are vacaitons as this company hate them.

    Advice to Management

Take some of your spiritual beliefs and do for your employees as you do for metal arts and your animals. Employees do not feel appreciated. Even the lowest of employers offer some type of raises. Don't hide behind your religious front as you are not believable.
