Pros
Pay, the schedule doesn’t change up on you, many different positions, promotions and growth within company, as well as bonuses and benefits.
Cons
May be considered hard work due to bathing, personal care, clothing, and feeding individuals.
- Current Employee, more than 1 year★★★★★
Pros
If you are down and out you can always apply there, they'll take you cause they down and out too.
Cons
My entire work experience with DSSLC was lived through the pandemic which was so poorly handled by the director and upper management. We never had enough PPE, they forced people to work in quarantine sights by telling us we either work in quarantine or quit w/ a write up making us ineligible to receive un-employment during the pandemic. They refuse to pay us hazard pay, instead gift us a sucker at the gate as a thank you for being such hard essential worker. The stories can go on forever. ALSO especially with covid, you will be working 16 hr shifts every day

Pros
good insurance and benefits are available to staff. somewhat easy employment process
Cons
lack of respect for DSPs. They most blame DSP for any mishaps. low salary. High work turnover. barely any opportunity to move up into higher positions, because the ones there retire and come back to the same position. Na there's a lot of favoritism.
- Current Employee, more than 1 year★★★★★
Pros
Easy (better than a warehouse job) Not so many Pros to be honest Good benefit Overtime. If you love one Three different shifts
Cons
High attrition rate due to bad management. Hence you'd get stuck at job because there is no one to relieve you. Very poor salary. Another reason people quit so often You're treated less than a human being. You can be attacked by the individuals you served at any given time and nothing would happen. The individuals have all the RIGHTS in the world to do whatsoever they like. They can destroy your car and all you would get is $100 maximum to offset your bill. The individuals can also call you out (most of the time lie about Abuse and Neglect) all because they don't like you and then you'd be on what they called "allegation" for weeks then be questioned like you're a criminal. Most people quit this job because of very "poor and inhumane treatment of staff". The individuals served, though I understand are disabled and must be protected against harm, however, many of them are high functioning individuals who are wise, very wise, knowing they can't be held accountable for their actions due to their "disability" then leverage on that to mess with you.

Pros
I loved working with the residents at the State Supported Living Center. During training they prepare you for the worst but working with them was easiest part of the job.
Cons
It was very unorganized in regards to workload and leadership. There was a lot of favoritism.
