Excellent Culture, Amazing Benefits
Apr 5, 2023 - Software Engineer in Austin, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Excellent company culture, unparalleled benefits, flex hybrid for most positions, lots of community, team building and employee appreciation.
Cons
Pay rate can be lower than market standard for tech departments but the benefits package more than makes up for the differentiation.

Overall good place to work
Jun 8, 2023 - Commercial Underwriter IIRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Great benefits, job security, great work life balance, great work culture, offers bonuses.
Cons
Does not pay competitively with multi line carriers, not a lot of room for growth, doing the work of an Underwriter and underwriter assistant and sometimes an auditor, heavy workload, and under staffed.

Great company that cares about their employees
Feb 27, 2023 - Information Specialist in Austin, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Texas Mutual is a great company to work for. I was there for over 4 years and it was a good experience. They truly care about their employees, they have a great company culture, good and supportive management, good compensation, everyone is nice and friendly. Great bonuses and benefits and it was overall a very positive experience and I would work for this company again.
Cons
It can get stressful at times and they could benefit from hiring more people who stay longer, as there was a high turnover in the department.
Thank you for your positive comments and even more thanks for serving Texas Mutual! We take great care to ensure our employees feel supported and have the tools they need to bring their best selves to work. Our Information Specialists hold a “mission critical role” as conduit for policyholders and injured workers receiving timely information and support. The demands of the role can be a challenge and we continue to assess and employ best practices to ensure a favorable outcome for all stakeholders including clientele as well as employees.

Good People- Doing the Right thing
Dec 16, 2022 - Human Resources Business PartnerRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Since starting at Texas Mutual several years ago, I have always been impressed by the quality of team. The leaders truly care and that comes across in conversations and how they lead the company. The benefits are exceptional, and the salary is above average. The hybrid flexibility is vital to being able to have my preferred work-life blend.
Cons
There can be frustration about moving at "slow" speed. I at times share this frustration, but also recognize that much of Texas Mutual's success is derived from well calibrated decision making and well-informed paths forward- they will not make course adjustments at break neck speeds.

A company that cares

Inexpensive benefits, hybrid work schedule. Nice 401K match. Bi-weekly pay. Coworkers are always a pleasure to work with. Working at Texas Mutual allows you the flexibility to prioritize family as much as you do your work. Most people that I have met seemed to be genuinely happy and that makes coming to work a joy.
Cons
If you don't earn your health rewards points, then your health premium will increase.

Pros
I'm proud to work for an industry leader dedicated to keeping Texans safe. Texas Mutual is the perfect-sized company, in my opinion - large enough to weather changing market conditions and maintain financial stability, yet small enough that employees don't get lost in the shuffle. Add in leaders who listen, a flexible hybrid schedule, and a real commitment to giving back to the communities where we live and work, and it's a winner!
Cons
The pace of change can be challenging.
