I have been working at Texas Transportation Institute full-time for more than 3 years
Pros
Lots of opportunity to try various research topics. Get the opportunity to work with some well known names in the field of transportation research. Flexible work schedule.
Cons
Not great pay for entry level. Not clear cut guidelines for promotion. Various groups and divisions hire people with same credentials aty different levels.

RecommendsPositive OutlookNo opinion of CEOI have been working at Texas Transportation Institute part-time for less than a year
Pros
The people are really nice for the most part, especially your coworkers. You'll get to know some other people in the building that are responsible for ordering things through NIS (networking and information systems). there is often downtime for the student techs which lets me work on homework, which is really important to me. The pay is pretty good for a student worker, especially compared to most other on campus jobs.
Cons
Not too much here, for a student working on rellis campus can be far but depending on where you live it isn't too bad

Positive OutlookI worked at Texas Transportation Institute full-time
Pros
Rewarding projects, thoughtful colleagues, nice work space.
Cons
The particular manager I had was difficult to work with. His perception of his team was not based on objective performance assessments. I was graded quite harshly during my annual performance review. When I had asked him to provide an example of something negative he had listed in the review, he could not do so (resulting in him reluctantly omitting it from the performance review prior to it being submitted). I later learned that at least two previous team members left due to issues they had while working under him.
