I have been working at Texas Transportation Institute part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

-TTI has been very welcoming and kind the whole time I have been working here.
-Because I am a student, they have been very flexible with my hours and have given me no trouble when I need to take time off for a test.
-They have professional expectations that keep the office running smoothly but they also treat you like family.

    Cons

For technicians, there are a multitude of chat services and bulletin boards that you must follow constantly to keep informed. Not a big deal but it is easy to miss things.

    Advice to Management

Management is doing a good job keeping everything in line and on track.

I worked at Texas Transportation Institute part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Paid reasonably well for a student-worker. I was given the opportunity not only to learn new skills but develop some interpersonal skills helping customers solve their tech problems in the middle of them being frustrated. TTI had a good system setup for logging complaints and problems as well as handing them off to more experienced techs when things went over my head.

    Cons

I would have greatly benefited from periodic monthly training on new technology standards or systems that were used inside TTI.

    Advice to Management

Continually train your staff especially newbies.

I worked at Texas Transportation Institute part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Opportunity to be exposed to real world research projects while studying at school. The pay covers your tuition and basic living expenses in College Station. Many employers value your experience as a research assistant at TTI.

    Cons

There are just too many managers and too many groups and the hierarchy definitely very complex, this definitely creates difficulties for collaboration.
