I worked at Textron full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good community and support network, at both the enterprise and business unit levels. Good place to work.

    Excellent benefit package.

Great growth opportunity for new graduates entering the workforce.

    Cons

Tendency to focus new opportunities toward the youngest portion of the workforce as an attraction to new candidates and to develop new leaders, at the expense of more senior members of the team. High energy focus on developing new employees often significantly reduces opportunity for more experienced employees.

    Advice to Management

Avoid the tendency to throw everything at any new enterprise initiative, and take a more balanced approach. In developing the workforce, apply resources and opportunities more equitably to attracting new candidates and continuing to developing existing team.

Apply the same principle to any new initiative; don’t get so caught up in the new effort that you allow still valuable processes and activities to fall by the wayside, struggling to sustain and survive.

I have been working at Textron full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Its very rewarding to see a finished product that you have taken part in building go "out the door". When one combines pride with great work ethics, it's amazing what can be accomplished.

    Cons

The workforce is a bit mixed with people who are there to "just get a check" and those who actually enjoy doing what they do. It creates problems with production as well as peoples overall attitudes. Very low compensation for great job performance is an issue that needs serious attention.

    Advice to Management

Recognize the employees who make this place successful and compensate them better. In not doing so, production has, and will, go on. But realistically, how much better COULD it be?
