I have been working at Textron full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Provides a lot of opportunities to get experience in different areas of ISC. Upper management really takes time to build up LDPs, so a lot of exposure to executives. Provide really good moving packages to make the moving a lot easier.

    Cons

Moving every 6 months is difficult (once you get in your grove you have to move). Some business units treat you like an expensive intern and you are a paper pusher. A lot of it is based on how much you take the initiative. Big company so it takes a while to do anything or get anything approved.

    Advice to Management

Work with LDP managers to have legitimate word for the LDP's to do. We didn't join this program to push papers and sit around all day.

I worked at Textron as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

It's a smaller company in Augusta, GA (EZ-GO), and it was very good for learning experience, and because of the size of the company, it was more of a family type feel. Everyone was helpful to me, no matter how small the task was. This was my first internship, so it was very eye opening, and over all a good experience.

    Cons

I did not want to go back to working there because the management did not seem to have all their ducks in a row. Some people were managers that probably shouldn't have been, based on their experience. Education isn't everything when you don't know how your own product is designed, but you're in charge of a team thats making it. They aren't fans of new ideas , especially if they didn't come up with it. The internship was kind of a joke sometimes because personal feelings got in the way of engineering.

    Advice to Management

Stay humble. Also, pay attention to people who know what they are actually doing instead of trying to throw your weight around because of a title.

Former Employee - Engineer in Augusta, GA
Former Employee - Engineer in Augusta, GA

    Pros

Good people to work with, lots of training for new skills, good vacation time, not too much OT in the departments I worked in

    Cons

Terrible health insurance, some other departments had really bad OT and people in those departments left

    Advice to Management

Get less embarrassing health insurance for your employees. Otherwise, it was a great place to work

I have been working at Textron full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Great company with great employees.

    Cons

I feel like I am walking around a college campus. The older, experienced employees are on the decline. Yearly raises are not that great...maximum 3% increase

    Advice to Management

move the experienced employees up the ladder or into management roles.

I worked at Textron as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Very nice people. Internship experience was very engaging and welcoming. They do value their interns

    Cons

Not great choice of locations. Didn't like the idea of consistency moving around in the LDP program without a strong say in where you will work
