    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Textron Systems for less than a year

    Pros

Period of growth in Electronic Systems Increasing in hiring Experienced engineering middle-management in ES Team New Projects and Bids on the Horizon

    Cons

Some culture issues - "Everybody should want to be the CEO someday" More new product and new project development Facilities and lab spaces are a bit overcrowded due to growth of new teams and projects (a symptom of a good problem) Invest in good facilities. A good place to work starts with a good physical environment to work in.

I have been working at Textron Systems for less than a year

    Pros

    - Great people - If you want to learn, there are many very experienced and knowledgeble people from which to learn

    Cons

    - Very self-attacking company culture. No one really seems like they truly want to be there very much. - Stuck with legacy of government contract style workplace from parent company. Highly limits ability of engineers to do their jobs.

I worked at Textron Systems for less than a year

    Pros

    - Interns were working on actual engineering problems within the company. - There are lots of projects, each owned by a small group of people, very small-company feel - Fellow employees were very nice

    Cons

    - Dreary workspace, cubicles were low-walled, but there were no windows in the entire space - Spotty work supply for interns, some ran out of work occasionally, while others had plenty - Attempts to "be like Google" involved adding a K-Cup machine, for which you had to supply your own K-Cups - Very aggressive recruiting - Employees paid for 40hrs a week, encouraged and judged by 44hrs a week status, saw some employees work crazy hours just to impress management

    Neutral Outlook

I worked at Textron Systems for less than a year

    Pros

This is a good first internship experience to "get your foot in the door." AAI has some interesting products you are able to get yours hands dirty with. The schedule is flexible and some co-workers are good to be around. The work is very hands-on for an engineer. I had the chance to troubleshoot issues with some products.

    Cons

There seems to be a lot of talking behind peoples backs here. Sometimes your job is slowed down by other groups needing to use something and the limited availability of tools. Also, there is a lot of sitting around and doing nothing for an intern. The office space is pretty badly organized with cubes and offices all over the place, partly because AAI does construction in house. AAI also doesn't really promote from within.
