I worked at Thales as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

It is a good technological company.

    Cons

The man schauvinistic macho environment. Sexual harassment is rampant and it is tolerated by the human resources. This company has the same attitude as Uber had before. If you are sexually harassed HR ignores it and says it is a part of the job. I reported the incident to the HR and they not only discouraged me to discuss this issue but also condoned it. "This is how people meet and get married at work". Is this how Thales company protect its female interns? The ride sharing company had the same problem but after the female engineer disclosed it in a blog they took care of it. However, Thales is hiding this problem and tries to present a good image of the company to the world which at the end I believe will backfire on them.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of old employees who are a burden for the company.

I worked at Thales full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent pay, and lower level employees and some supervisors and leads and very few of the managers treat people with respect they deserve

    Cons

This place was great when i first started then in comes a new manager who if you did not kiss his well you know, you were considered no good and you got no where in the company. The entire direction of the company is taking a turn for the worse with no means to fix it. And forget going to HR for anything they are completely useless. and forget about a work life balance you are made to work OT and if you cant your made to feel as if you are going to get written up for it

    Advice to Management

Wise up, use the people with the knowledge to better the company not just the ones sucking up

I have been working at Thales full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great PTO, very good 401K options/matching, fair pay and decent benefits package. Wonderful people that unfortunately just stay for the PTO

    Cons

Lacks office culture and passion, no perks (functions/events/holiday parties/discount packages/flexible schedule/work from home options), no gym on site, no cafeteria, no pets, no daycare

    Advice to Management

Bring this company up to the emerging cultural norm and you would have more passionate employees. People are burnt out.

I have been working at Thales full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Beautiful facilities. Interesting domain of InFlight Entertainment. Young, modern workforce on top of a lot of the latest technology.

    Cons

H-1B "engineers" and new grads prevent salaries from getting too high. You don't see too many engineers over 40.

    Advice to Management

None that you would implement as I would think you know exactly what you're doing to raise the stock price and maximize your bonuses.

I worked at Thales full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Vacation days
    Working hours
    Close to 405
    New comer package

    Cons

    Parking place
    No cafeteria !
    Management style

    Advice to Management

Quite difficult to challenge people because they have a high self esteem and think business/operations can be done like in the 90' !!! This division just switch to SAP and people are not willing to reach "excellence" , just do their job or think they do. Very hard to have a continuous improvement plan.

closed to home, product is still in demand

    Pros

    Better benefits, lots of work

    Cons

Ever since the Thales takeover, this job is going way downhill
IT is a roadblock, no longer a service. Horrible service, far too many silly new rules.

Loss of flight privilege at Jet Blue is a huge hit to the value of working here
    Grown too big too fast
Might as well work at Harris or Northrup
Terribly unproductive "open" office, just a desk in a big room
Salaries retarded by undercutting with H1-B people
Not enough respect given to engineers

Management is becoming even more of a clique, especially engineering management (SW)
    Very poor feedback to employees.

    Advice to Management

Don't forget what got you here. Spend some money on decent facilities. Think of your employees as people, not "resources"

    Pros

Benefits are typical of corporate organization of this size. Good colleagues. Technically not very challenging environment.

    Cons

Company is hindered by being part of larger global defense conglomerate. Planning skills of middle management is non-existent. Twentieth century company trying to stay relevant in the 21st century.

    Advice to Management

While everyone is striving to work their way up the ladder, management needs to make sure the ladder is leaning on the right wall.

    Pros

Benefits are good but trying to use them are slim to none.

    Cons

Thales works it's employees into the ground and has a high turnover rate. Company wide disorganization and management egos make for a quick burnout. Be forewarned...

    Advice to Management

Learn to work as a team, everyone is valuable, put the egos aside and quit throwing people under the bus for personal gains.
