    Pros

    Not-for-profit organization with little motivation to do quality work. Executives are greedy and just laugh at how easy it is to hood-wink the public. I suggest this organization be shut down.

    Cons

    Exeutives are weak and have questionable ethics. HR grouipis incompetent and is dispised by the entire organziaiton. I feel I wasted my time there and feel bad for the public.

    Advice to Management

    Close the company down. Get rid of all the current leaders and hire a new batch of competent leaders. Sad place

    I have been working at The Aerospace Corporation full-time

    Pros

    +The 9/80 plan is awesome! This is their best benefit.
    +Paid on a weekly basis.
    +Always new technology being developed, based on the research of the corporation.
    +Their mission is of utmost importance and it is nice to know you are doing something important.
    +

    Cons

    - A great deal of nepotism - executives children work in many departments and they aren't always competent.
    - A good amount of cronyism - so a lot of clicks are formed which is bad for allowing in unique ideas.
    - The corporation succeeds in support of their customer in spite of the very poor leadership of the "IT" Department;
    - There is a deep-rooted problem of the concept "Groupthink" in the various departments that are geographically dispersed, and management doesn't care.
           o Apparently only the west coast personnel are capable of good ideas; even when the east coast is following industry best practices.
           o 90% of the management is on the west coast, which forces the employer to spend a great deal of cash of sending managers to the
                  east coast for personal (face) time.
    - The corporation has a special mission, and even though it does succeed (technically) in spite of itself, it could put a great deal more emphasis on IT security and increasing awareness of operations in its multiple venues.

    Advice to Management

    Hire more upper-level management on the east coast, much more.
    Hire people into management positions that want to be leaders, not just get the bigger paycheck.
         o Make sure they have people skills not just technical skills.
         o Ensure they know how to make tough decisions that affect personnel.
         o Remind them to tell their reports; "Hey, thanks for your hard work." and not for people that only manage the email servers (because that employee's parent is an executive in the corporation)!

    I have been working at The Aerospace Corporation (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    * Stable environment if you are part of a program office.
    * Most people work reasonable hours.
    * Since it is an FFRDC there is less stress than in a competitive contracting environment.
    * Employees are free to move from one position to the next
    * Aerospace encourages employees to work for different offices during their career
    * Interesting projects.

    Cons

    * Lack of upward mobility
    * Salary based off of age more than merit within a salary group
    * Upper management lacks strategy of expanding customer base.
    * Management is unorganized in their approach with planning and functioning across Aerospace teams.

    Advice to Management

    Aerospace needs to do a better job in how they choose their management. Many managers at the lower levels lack the organizational skills to be effective in meeting customer needs for research projects. Upper management lacks skills in strategy to expand the customer base. I would say in general Aerospace has a good workforce, just below average management.

    Pros

    Many honest employees. Good coworkers in many places.

    Cons

    Management is shamefully dishonest. Lots of obsfucation. William Grayson Hunter.

    I have been working at The Aerospace Corporation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Excellent benefits, relaxed work schedules and amazing work/life balance, friendly company culture, and semi-interesting work depending on the department.

    Cons

    Extremely slow pace of career growth, hiring, and low pay relative to the industry.

    Advice to Management

    Push harder to encourage incentives for new hires. Intern program is abysmally underfunded and tends to turn potential hires away. New hires will encourage career growth for those already employed and everyone will be happier.

    Pros

    The work environment is wonderful and everyone is friendly.

    Cons

    The only downfall is if you don't have your TS the wait is close to a year. Ever since OPM had issues this slowed down the clearance process. So its a waiting game.
