I worked at The Bakersfield Californian full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Monday - Wednesday were "easy" days where I could usually complete my whole three route set in four hours or less.

    Cons

There were no days off, many times the truck that delivered our papers was often late, so we would have to wait for hours for it to show up, then deliver my routes to irritated subscribers. Holiday papers were huge and sometimes I had to split up my papers between two cars throwing the first half with one car and the second half with the second car.

    Advice to Management

give a certain number of sick days after two years' if someone gets hurt on the job.

    Pros

I can't think of a single pro with TBC. Everything I experienced was very negatove6.

    Cons

Cliche environment, lots of back biting and gossiping. Upper management listened more to gossip than to facts

    Advice to Management

Support your supervisors better and quit trying to overwork them on a weekly basis.

I worked at The Bakersfield Californian full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I was able to work at by own pace, I enjoyed driving early in the morning when there is no traffic and listen to the radio.

    Cons

there are no days off and no room for advancement, but to me the worst aspect was lack of consistency and professionalism, which is a personal pet-peeve.

    Advice to Management

get it together!! have a little more pride in what you do and who you represent.
