I have been working at The Bancorp full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

There are no pros I can think of

    Cons

Management has no clue about what goes on in the bank regarding systems, projects and hiring skills are lacking. The systems that the bank uses are very antiquated and they do not work properly. Mangagment does not support the employers which equals failure and the customers are the ones suffering. They recently laid off many employees and morale is in the floor. I can go on and on, but no one listens internally. If you decide to apply for the bank please do your due diligence, because your career depends on it.

    Advice to Management

You are not listening to your employees and you think you are smarter than anyone in the room. Wrong!

I worked at The Bancorp full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Many wonderful people in non-executive management positions.

    Cons

Too many to list. No advancement. New management is more interested in bringing in less experienced staff from their prior jobs than actually giving the talent on hand any opportunities unless you are a favorite. No women in executive management with only one female board member. No tolerance for differing opinions or suggestions for alternative considerations and voicing such things caused staff to be frozen out of everything. No annual raises but plenty of perks for executives such as company expensed lunches every day and company expensed housing accommodations for executives in Philadelphia, executive Christmas party with not so much as a Happy Holidays message to staff, luxury 3 day boondoggle to Miami for about 25 members of the management council, etc. If you are not part of the clique, forget it. Felt like I was back in middle school. I highly recommend that you not accept employment with this company.

I worked at The Bancorp full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    The location and the diversity

    Cons

The management in AML/BSA is under qualified and has no respect for the regulation of the industry or the employees who actually try to do what is right. They will not staff appropriately and they refuse to do what is right. Hence they still have a consent order.

    Advice to Management

Get your ducks in row or out of pond and for the rest of us who do care about the law....It will catch up

I worked at The Bancorp full-time

    Pros

Free parking and some nice co-workers

    Cons

The management across the board was incompetent, especially the Compliance Management. There was a woman who headed the BSA/Sanctions compliance team who was so incompetent and fired anyone in her path if she felt threatened. Yet, despite being criticized by the regulator, the Bancorp executive team simply protected and even promoted her.

    Advice to Management

STOP REWARDING INCOMPETENCE. Look at a manager's track record, including the trail of dead bodies, and DRAIN THE SWAMP. All that glitters is not gold. See past bad managers' snake-oil sales pitch, bad excuses for failure and start holding managers accountable. The reason why the bank is being so heavily investigated and scrutinized is because it is obvious that there is something very bad happening as a direct result of BAD, DISHONEST MANAGEMENT. Remove your blinders!

I have been working at The Bancorp full-time

    Pros

There are no longer any pros to working here.

    Cons

Continuous compliance issues; Senior management is aloof; working environment is cut-throat; promotions are based on "perceived popularity"; losing good employees consistently; instability; inappropriately close cliques in positions "around the table"; morals went out the window.

    Advice to Management

Cut your losses, open your eyes and see that the people you have in management positions are not qualified. Allowing inexperienced employees with no knowledge or desire to understand the business, and blindly accepting their promises to cut expenses will further increase compliance/regulatory risk. Investigate who you have making decisions if you want to truly pull this bank out of the regulatory nightmare it's in - that is if you really intend to turn this bank around.
