I worked at The Barking Crab part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The atmosphere is top notch, always striving for friendliness and conversation. Music and location with the outdoor patio in the summer make this the best spot for dinner and drinks in a relaxed environment. Be ready to share your table with strangers and make new friends!

    Cons

Always busy, 2 hour waits are a normalcy on any given summer night.

    Advice to Management

    Expand the seating.

I worked at The Barking Crab part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I've worked at several restaurants in the past, however The Barking Crab definitely provided me with the best opportunity to make the most money!

    Cons

Unfortunately, sometimes during the summer they hire too many employees, leading to not enough shifts for workers. Thankfully, there is a lot of room to pick up shifts, but employees are not always scheduled enough.

    Advice to Management

I don't really have any advice for management. I had a very positive experience and would recommend it to others looking for a restaurant job.

I have been working at The Barking Crab part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Very pleasant staff. Attentive to your needs. Nice decor. good seafood menu great outside seating . Pleasant atmosphere and music . Parking available

    Cons

Food takes a extremely long time to come out. The quality of the food as compared to the extremely high pring is not worth it. the restaurant is unkept and not clean,

    Advice to Management

    Get some stability in there

I have been working at The Barking Crab full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The money was good and the atmosphere was fun.

    Cons

The managers are pretty strict and can be rude.

I worked at The Barking Crab part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good money, convenient location to public transportation, usually good mix of townies and tourists

    Cons

Taxes always messed up -- paid over 10k per year in taxes
    Horrible staff morale, scheduling problems
Managers pick favorites -- bar manager goes on vacations with favorite employees, screws the others

    Pros

You make sometimes over $1000 a week in the summer.

    Cons

You only make good money in the summer. Conditions are terrible. It's hot. They force you to wear black pants outside in the summer. You are not allowed to have water bottles on the floor because it violates health code. They force you to come in at 3:30 and do not allow you to eat until close. The place is like a paid Nazi camp.

    Advice to Management

    Stop using people.

    Pros

Staff are friendly. Owners seem to have good intentions.

    Cons

Manager turnerover rate: 20+ in a year. Anyone else concerned? Upper management is unprofessional on every possible level and has no boundries.

    Advice to Management

Upper management is in need of a performance review. Either they are a poor judge of character or impossible to work with based on the turnover rate alone. Figure out what your priorities and target market are if you want to survive in this economy.
