Great people, great products, business in transition!
Oct 19, 2017 - Director in Santa Monica, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Base pay and benefits above the norm. Bonuses average (except in highly profitable years). Fitness and nutrition a big part of the eco-system. Talented people. Reasonable chances for advancement.
Cons
Business model is changing (from direct marketing to on-demand). The leadership knows where the future is; getting there has been the challenge. CEO and President have a history of finding solutions but this is the biggest obstacle they have faced. While I know everyone is working hard to get things back on track, communication regarding the strategic plan and the progress against it could be better.

Stay Away... for your own good
Dec 19, 2012 - Anonymous Employee in Santa Monica, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The company pays well and has great benefits. Also there was a gym in the office and the dress code was casual.
Cons
This place sucks the life out of you. The upper management rules with fear, and people run around in fear and craze. The operations of the business is not solid to support a business growing so rapidly. People are expected to be perfect and there is no work-life balance.

Fast paced, supportive environment with opportunities for growth
Jun 24, 2021 - Anonymous Employee in Los Angeles, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I've been with Beachbody for a year now (was onboarded during COVID) and have felt supported since my first day. When I say fast-paced I truly mean it, you have to always be on top of your game. But for those open to that challenge there are endless opportunities for growth. My direct manager has always done a great job a communicating their expectations and future goals for me and a path towards them. This year has not only been difficult because of the pandemic but also because of the many social injustices that have occurred. Beachbody immediately took action and created safe spaces for employees to share, listen, learn and most importantly heal. Beachbody also offers great benefits and has even added additional benefits/perks to ease the COVID WFH environment. I have always been encouraged and a couple of times even had different leaders I work with strongly suggest I take time off to ensure I'm not getting burnt out. This really showed me the type of people-first culture that Beachbody offers and that they truly care about my mental wellness.
Cons
The only challenge I have experienced would be overinflated processes.

Best Company I've Ever Worked For
Apr 17, 2018 - Anonymous Employee in El Segundo, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I have been at Beachbody for almost two years now and I thought it was time for me to write a review. My first impression was that this was a pretty cool company with a sort of startup feel to it even though it was a $1B+ company. In the two years since I started, the place has only gotten better. Granted, there have been some layoffs and the thought of leaving has occurred to me, but I realized that this is the best place I've been. What are the odds of finding another 'best company ever'? The odds are low. There are issues and problems that need solving as all companies have and the reason why they need employees. But the people are great and there are a ton of great perks and benefits. And they just keep adding new perks like unlimited vacation, one telecommute day per week, fresh fruit delivered to the lunchroom everyday, access to the nutritional products in the lunchroom, a shakebar where you can request fresh Shakeology shakes to be blended for you all day long with fresh and frozen fruits, even the ability to request a shake from your desk or phone app, an onsite gym with access to all Beachbody workout programs, your own Beachbody on Demand account so you can work out at home or while traveling on business, employee challenges with prize drawings for things like apple watch, beats earbuds, or $1000 Nordstrom gift card. Plus the health benefits are incredible too. Yes, this is a great company to work for. I highly recommend!
Cons
Not much different than other companies: problems, inefficiencies, lack of processes, the fear of layoffs. Come here and help make the company better!

Pros
- Work with some amazingly talented people - Benefits are solid - Gyms at the Santa Monica and El Segundo Locations
Cons
- As some have pointed out in prior reviews, some outside management hires destroyed the "dude" culture that once made Beachbody a "great place to work" - Some members of Leadership rule by intimidation and do not lead (which they are paid to do) - Some members of Leadership do not adhere to Beachbody's Core Values (especially treating people with respect and being courageously forthright) - Lack of career advancement opportunities - Divide between LOB's has expanded over time - Company used to be transparent in their monthly/quarterly employee updates, but those stopped without explanation - As most reviewers brought up, job stability is severely lacking (mass layoffs in June 2013 and February 2017 were due to poor financial/strategic planning and execution)

Pros
GREAT BENEFITS & PERKS for salaried employees! There is no cap on vacation days, as long as your supervisor approves it. Free access to a gym and supplements while you're working.
Cons
The company works very much from the top down. Not a lot of space for creativity.

Pros
The benefits are good and the fact that there is a gym are positives to the company. You get to workout to the programs. Some really cool people.
Cons
A failing company due to lack of capable management in IT. CTO has no track record of execution and he has built an environment based on fear. Engineering manager could not code or manage his way out of a paper bag. If you care about your career or what you will be working on, do not take a job in IT. They will give all the good work away offshore and leave you working on code fixes and support. Not good. They will sell you big promises of working on great projects but when you get there you will realize the work is not what was promised and the leadership and direction is absent. Incompetence runs rampant in this joint.

Stay Away from This Company Specially the IT Department
Jul 11, 2015 - Business Analyst in Santa Monica, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Very generous when it comes to pay. they have decent benefits and the CEO and CIO have a good vision for the company.
Cons
Un-Professional Sr. Managers in IT. Cuss and Uses fowl languages in-front of subordinates. Do not have a good direction or knowledge of where to take the organization. Lots of cowboys running the shop. The infrastructure is unstable and they keep doing band-aid solution. Web sites go down every week if not every other day.
