I have been working at The Berry Company full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great work/life balance and management is good with communication. Adding new products which is good for sales. Training provided and management is "hands-on" to assist. Good benefits with matching 401k.

    Cons

Could always use more vacation and sometimes the stress is high trying to make numbers.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing -- add more products that help us keep a solid reputation.

I have been working at The Berry Company full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Good benefits and commission scale. Base pay is decent as well which is impressive in a sales driven position. Great management team locally. Support staff is very helpful as well. Everyone is usually working together and getting along great. I enjoy coming to work every day.

    Cons

All the cons of a sales position. Can be stressful at times, lots of metrics to pay attention to as well as goals to hit.

    Advice to Management

On the local level keep doing what is being done. The morale and quality of leadership is great from sales managers and up.

I have been working at The Berry Company full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good benefits and continual training in order to stay ahead of the industry

    Cons

This is a high stress job without the high payout that usually accompanies a high stress job. Most of the employees try to do a good job but the busy work and the digital fulfillment issues are a real problem. High turnover, poor management and favoritism is also a big problem

I have been working at The Berry Company full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Still doing print but moving in the right direction with digital advertising, good compensation, good company, good benefits, 8 weeks of sales training

    Cons

Managers need more developing, not enough lower level employee buy-in on direction of company

    Advice to Management

I believe a program needs to be put in place that will allow development of managers and those that desire to move into management. Purchasing Talus starts to move us from using third party vendors but more needs to be done (moving in right direction though). Listen to your employee's they are your greatest asset and know what is working and what is not. I would say 90% of them love working here and getting their... input and making them feel like a part of the solution will lead to greater success.

I have been working at The Berry Company full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Good employees, benefits are good

    Cons

Poor work ethic from managers, bad compensation plan, old dying yellow page product

    Advice to Management

Treat customers as if each were your last, get your own products instead of being a reseller. Change your local management that has customer service focus and vision for change

I worked at The Berry Company full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Competitive salary, good benefits, great employees , large customer base

    Cons

Dying core product, digital products are 3rd party, supervisors have no vision, old selling style, tremendous turnover within the last year.

    Advice to Management

Change the upper management, invest in own digital products, look at reasons why so many employees have left in the last year.

    Advice to Management

Keep things positive and work on more motivation. Don't let negatives get in the way of motivating your reps to from selling.

I have been working at The Berry Company

    Pros

The best reasons to work at the Berry Company are that management cares about the success of the sales reps. They will coach, train, go on sales calls with you and do whatever it takes for you to be successful. Co-workers become great friends. Benefits are good, 401K with company match and 100% vesting is awesome!, short and long term disability are free, health, dental, vision. The products we sell are print... and digital advertising. Print remains a product where most customers (about 90%) keep. Yes, all customers are going to test your belief in the product and want a better deal, but, yes they maintain/increase their advertising. Print is not going away any time soon. One of the greatest opportunities is selling digital advertising. 99% of all the business out there need our help with quality websites, yellowpages.com, videos, and Search. There are opportunities for growth. Commission rates are increasing and bonus potential is huge!

    Cons

This is a sales job -- just like many other sales jobs....this one has a quota also. Hard work and determination pays off. If you are looking for unlimited earning potential, apply.

    Advice to Management

Always stay close to the sales department - this is the bread and butter of the company. Sales sees and hears it all and has many suggestions for product improvement and also the customer interaction process.
