I have been working at The Body Shop part-time

    Pros

    Discount on products
    Interaction with costumers

    Cons

Your work ethic is based on how much money you bring in, which can present a lot of unnecessary pressure. Especially when the traffic within the shop is slow.
It is important to understand the ingredients within the products, because you will have to explain them to costumers. Can become overwhelming.

I worked at The Body Shop full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

No animal testing and many vegan products made it easier to help clients with those desires.

    Cons

Worked 8 to 12 days in a row with multiple closing-opening (against hr policies) shifts because management was always on vacation or calling out yet we constantly were threatened with punishment if we were late or not as pushy with customers as they wanted. Manager actually drove away sales with pushy behavior but it was always blamed on us. Manager only hired people they were friends with after higher-ups brought in the original group. We were treated as children. Management made racially insensitive comments regularly. District management isn't much better.

    Advice to Management

Actually pay attention to what's going on in the stores. Stop hiring managers who couldn't care less about their employees.

Supporting a good cause by working and shopping there, friendly environment, good employee discount (45% off), cruelty-free.

    Cons

Corporate changes things at the last minute and this sometimes puts the people that work in the stores in a frenzy.

    Pros

The employee discount is decent, great place to start if you want to learn the basics about skincare, good learning experience.

    Cons

Too competitive with other stores creating a catty environment, low pay, lots of work load and constant physical labor.

I worked at The Body Shop full-time

    Pros

They actively try to encourage a good culture and try to live by their values.
They make the top managers (think district & up) go to stores & make sure that tyhey know what the front lines are like.

    Cons

L'Oreal was doing a lot of restructuring at the time so it had some instability & the culture could have changed.

    Advice to Management

Keep making sure the environment stays positive & implement better recycling policies.
