    Pros

Its a good job for people coming out of school. The company does a great job of teaching you how to sell in a professional manner

    Cons

You have no work to life balance. You will work every weekend in the fall and winter. They will dangle a promotion in front of you for years to get you to work 70hr weeks. Many employees are not paid business expenses when they leave the company. Overall, I wouldnt plan on staying with the company for more than a couple of years.

I have been working at The Boston Beer Company full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Can't think of even one. Location is great but very expensive. A few good people but most are just coasters.

    Cons

A bunch of old school guys running the company who are about 30 years behind the times. Growth in craft has slowed and future road will be very bumpy!

    Advice to Management

    Hire some diversity of thought.

    Pros

    Free beer, that's about it.

    Cons

Brewery top management, as well as corporate executive level operational management in Boston, was the worst I've experienced in my long career. Most mid-level managers are extremely unhappy there. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.

    Advice to Management

Learn how to be good coaches vs. micromanagers.

I have been working at The Boston Beer Company full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

good pay, ok benefits. if you're in the office then ok hours

    Cons

Zero wok/life balance. They wasted some money on having Frisbee golf on the property that we can't use during our shift so before or after a 12hr shift the last thing anyone wants to do is play on this small field, but its great for people in the office after their 7-3 day I see them playing.

If you want a promotion or even to just learn something new you have to suck up to the right person. If you apply for a promotion and don't get it the leads are sure to let all your coworkers know. Leads are unprofessional they will yell at one person for on thing but when someone they are friends with does the same thing they just have a good laugh about it, or just ignore it altogether. Leads will go around telling other employees negative things about employees they don't like, witch makes it a uncomfortable work environment. If a lead thinks that there is a chance that you will sleep with them then they go out of their way to make sure you do as little work as possible getting easy jobs or just letting you do nothing all day. Then when people complain about this treatment to someone above the lead it's ignored instead of spiting them up and all the other employees on the line get extra work piled up on them.

Harassment from leads when they don't like you, when you take it to HR the leads are told about the complaint and since the lead knows who they did this to they just find other ways to harass you that s hard to prove until it's just becomes a he said she said.

    Advice to Management

Boston if you keep ignoring the problems at the pa brewery then plan on keep flushing money away.

Start demoting people who have too many complaints against them from to many sources. Investigate all harassment by taking to people around each indecent. Your leads will bring this company down so either get rid of them or train them better.

Go back to 8hr shifts then have 2 part-time 12hr weekend/holiday shifts that way you can still be a 24 7 operation with more of your employees are happy, and if you are worried about a high turnover rate on your part-time employees then target college student as at your pay rate you'll get a lot willing to stay for years. Plus that would get rid of most of your overtime.

    Pros

Free beer monthly, that's about it.

    Cons

Low pay, zero work-life balance, overall grumpy workforce and management. I've never met a more dismal, unhappy group of people in my life. I worked in the office, but spoke to a lot of employees in manufacturing who were extremely unhappy for good reasons. Some positions are extremely demanding physically and this type of work should not be done over a 12-hr shift, it's very dangerous. Horrible morale at every level. Vacation policy is not great.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the employees on the floor, and implement change to enjoy a happier workforce and a better working environment. Bring in more talented, diverse and dynamic leaders. Employ an HR department that is approachable and friendly.

    Pros

free beer and that is it,

    Cons

They speak of a Wellness program and then make you work 12hr shifts where you cannot work out or exercise. Office People, Management and HR are home with their families over the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holiday weekend with out having to use any vacation while the people on the 2-2-3 or 4-4 shifts have to burn 36 hrs of vacation time to be able to do that. They force you to work holidays or days the company say are holidays again while HR, Management and Office Personnel are home with their families. The only people that benefit from the Holiday Schedule are again Management, HR and Office Personnel. And while we are force in every other weekend there are no Office, HR or management people in. And yrs of service and seniority mean nothing. If you are liked and a yes man you the get promotions no matter how little they know about a job or have been there while people who know the job and have the years and experience are passed over if they are not liked. And don't believe everything you see in them Boston Commercials., not the way it is in Breinigsville

    Advice to Management

Open your eyes, you keep losing the good people with the experience and keep hiring people with very little that is why we have the problems we have. Treat everyone the same and give them the same opportunity to spend time with their families on Holidays like Management, HR and the Office People. You speak of Work Life balance prove it. How much beer is enough.
Do you know the strain the 12 hrs puts on family and relation because you miss out on important things with Family Functions, their kids sports and so on.
