I have been working at The Brick full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Paid mileage, paid training, mostly positive and fun environment to work. Made lots of great relationships which is what makes me like the job, because it's definitely not the pay that makes me stay. Fun incentives to win money and trips.

    Cons

Pay for operations staff is way too long. Sales, drivers, store managers and sales managers are paid well, customer service, warehouse, and Ops Managers are severely underpaid and the company doesn't see an issue. Yearly raises are minimal and benefits don't kick in for a year. Training at the store levels lack

    Advice to Management

    Be more supportive

I have been working at The Brick full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

employee discount on merchandise and benefits

    Cons

Very stressful atmosphere, managers are no help, they just think about getting stuff sold and reaching their monthly quota so they can get their bonuses at the end of the month and screwing customers over with poor customer service. Lots of favoritism and gossip like no other workplace I've ever been too, pretty much like high school. Wouldn't recommend working at the brick at all or buying from them. Once I find another job, I am gone in a second, I won't even give them 2 weeks notice because of the stress they brought upon me at the workplace.

I worked at The Brick (More than a year)

    Pros

+ If you're competent, they're afraid of letting you go or firing you
+ Work itself is not difficult
    + Employee discount exists
+ Management positions aren't hard to get into provided they like you

    Cons

    - If you're competent, you basically end up running the store
    - Work isn't hard, but the other employees have no functional understanding of their jobs so you end up doing an unconscionable amount of work
    - Employee discount is worse than most good sales
    - Inventory system is archaic and difficult to use
    - Sales order fulfillment process is archaic and difficult to use
    - Everything is server-side web application based, and the servers are notoriously unreliable
    - Management is slow to train, promote, etc
    - Management lies about employee benefits
    - Management lies about your career progression timeline
    - Management is too cheap to give you a raise
    - Management is known to sandbag your career (ie. give false reference to your abilities) if your promotion or career elsewhere would damage their sales figures
    - Management always folds on company policies
    - Management doesn't care if sales staff lie to customers to get sales on the books
    - Management will ask staff to do dubiously legal actions
    - Management tries to bully you into coming in even if you're so sick you can't stand up, let alone work
    - Clientele is rude, cheap, frequently unhygienic, and upon occasion threaten violence upon staff members
    - Management doesn't defend staff against abusive clients, finds it more amusing to watch than to intervene to improve client/staff experience

    Advice to Management

Follow the Brick's policies, fire people who literally don't know how to do their jobs, pay people what they're worth, don't be bullies and don't lie to staff and customers, and when a client threatens the staff please take it seriously.

I have been working at The Brick part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Salespeople are great to get along with, and managers are alright you get a discount as part-time but do not know how much that is because you must have worked for three months. The wage was better than my previous job and with lots more hours scheduled versus demand.

    Cons

Wrapping stuff up for customers and carry-outs, in this job you are always doing an essential task like getting stuff for deliveries and loading the trailer, doing reports to have CSR's call for you to handle product to a customers vehicle. Some of the carry outs are incredibly dumb like paintings and small things that salespeople should be doing. It's a low wage for massive risk of getting hurt and hard labour also we have incredibly tight staff as there are not enough people to do the tasks assigned. Another drawback is the fact if you're full time you have to work for three months if you survive to get your medical benefits and three months just for a discount on overpriced furniture you would not be able to afford otherwise.

    Advice to Management

Hire more people in the warehouse who arguably do the essential job for the lowest pay and if needed boost compensation and other perks. Also, have delivery drivers sort the trailer in a decent matter, so we don't have to spend up to an hour or more just sorting the container not mentioning other duties which take up precious time like getting stuff for deliveries, reports.
