I have been working at The Brick full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

employee discount on merchandise and benefits

    Cons

Very stressful atmosphere, managers are no help, they just think about getting stuff sold and reaching their monthly quota so they can get their bonuses at the end of the month and screwing customers over with poor customer service. Lots of favoritism and gossip like no other workplace I've ever been too, pretty much like high school. Wouldn't recommend working at the brick at all or buying from them. Once I find another job, I am gone in a second, I won't even give them 2 weeks notice because of the stress they brought upon me at the workplace.

I have been working at The Brick full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Coworkers and store management are great. Friendly and laid back atmosphere. You feel valued as an employee and there's never any overwhelming feeling of dread each day you need to come in. I'm speaking as a franchise employee, so unfortunately my experience may not mirror other stores quite well, but my experience at my current location has been nothing but positive.

    Cons

Lately corporate has been making a trend of offering a sales item for incredibly low prices and overselling. Secure stock for doorbuster products before selling; you may not feel the repercussions directly but dealing with multiple customers that are frustrated their product won't be in for 2-3 months is incredibly draining. We can't even offer substitutions or reselections because the price can't be matched at all.

As a whole, purchase order dates can be incredibly unstable resulting in much of the same as the above. It's not common to see an item with an expected arrival date of a week from now suddenly be pushed out another month. Having to constantly disappoint customers with news of delays is not enjoyable.

Franchise stores may not offer the same career opportunities that corporate stores can, though it is possible to transfer between locations and positions. HR sends near-daily emails on current open positions in other stores and in their head office. On the other hand, the culture and practices between corporate and franchise stores can be incredibly different.

    Advice to Management

Work on communication with suppliers or find suppliers that are more reliable for more accurate PO dates. Secure stock before large sales.

I have been working at The Brick part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You may get to work with good colleagues

    Cons

Terrible commission structure, barely any incentive to perform better - yet you will be fired for not selling enough warranties, double standards throughout the company (executives to management), at the end of the day the Brick is first... Customers and Brick employees come last. Also this company scores an F in the better business bureau. Giving you fair warning! Btw the money raised for donation is not just for the kids. It's called a big fat tax break for the company :)

    Advice to Management

Management doesn't even get enough support from their regionals! Lol this company is honestly a joke.

    Pros

I enjoy working with these guys. My managers are nice, friendly and problem solver. There isn't any fight here because everyone obey the rules. If you start working at Pitt Meadows, you can not leave that store easily. Now they are my best friends and family members.

    Cons

Just sometimes they advertised something that we don't have it on the floor or not in the stock.

    Advice to Management

My managers are great. I don't know about the other stores
