I have been working at The Brick full-time

    Pros

Generally rewarding commission structure. Great staff pricing. Good benefits. Lots of schedule flexibility.

    Cons

Mandatory work days (big sales, Boxing Day, this is typical of retail I'm general).

Enormous gap in quality of management. Some outstanding leaders, some that leave you wondering how they have a job at all. Unfortunately this means that quality of employment and overall experience can vary from location to location. I've had a consistently decent overall experience in multiple locations, despite inconsistent leadership.

    Advice to Management

Fight harder for your people. Let us know you have our backs, in a meaningful way.

I worked at The Brick part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pays slightly better than minimum wage. The sales and front desk staff as well as management are very friendly and personable at this branch. Building furniture is a nice break from typical warehousing duties and helps to break up the monotony of moving boxes.

    Cons

Warehouse is very small and quickly becomes too crowded to access stores readily, which makes retrieving inventory efficiently very difficult. Very low pay for the added risk of personal injury.

    Advice to Management

Find a way to make more efficient use of the vertical space provided in the warehouse, it would make customer service a lot quicker and far easier than the current st up allows.

    Pros

Make how much you want based on what you put in. Trusted to manage your business with very little micro management. Treated as professional and accountable for your own actions. Allowed to utilize your own skills to create your own style of sales and relationship building. Management defends staff and encourages success. May vary from store to store. I speak for my location.

    Cons

Training program could use some more structure and updates. Some material becomes outdated and is not removed and new material needed is sometime presented too late. Needs more Training incentive amongst staff in the know. I will someday make the appropriate changes should I find myself in the right position to do so.

    Advice to Management

Continue to uphold a professional work environment and teach professionalism to even your entry level staff maintaining focus on improving and recognizing each individuals skills.

I worked at The Brick part-time

    Pros

Great Experience where you get to interact with customers and face the tough challenge of making a sale in a full commission environment.

    Cons

Frustrating at times and a lot of off days especially at the start of the new year. Days where you will go home not making a single penny, and days where you will go home making a fortune.

    Advice to Management

No real advice, there are different groups of management who each have their responsibility. It's a great experience working wit the team.

I have been working at The Brick full-time

    Pros

Big organization, opportunity to move into different positions. Okay benefits. Great training and compensation.

    Cons

No work life balance. Since Leon's purchased the brick the morale is down. They are cutting back on everything including compensation. The Leons company does things the "long" way there are a lot to f set backs. The brick use to always be at the forefront where Leon's likes to use old technology to do things. No more culture, the brick had a great cooperate culture in the past. It seems it has disappeared.

    Advice to Management

Give the retail employees a better work life balance. Let them spend time with their families. Provide mandatory weekends off. Bring back the old brick culture.
