I worked at The Buckle part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

They cultivate a fun environment. I was happy to see my co workers every week.

    Cons

They don't always live up to their promises when it comes to your advancements. Some people get stuck as managers in training because not enough positions are available. They also don't allow managers enough time off. They aren't treated right in terms of being allowed to have the time to take care of themselves.

I worked at The Buckle part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great team dynamic that helps you make great friends. Great discount

    Cons

The commission is almost none. You only get a small percentage on top of the base rate (less than minimum wage). So most of the time - at a slow store'- you may make a dollar or two over minimum wage. Management is not good. The company gets a large turnover. Also they demote people if they find out you are looking at other jobs.

    Advice to Management

If there are bad workers, fire them! Do not give them one shift a week hoping they will quit. Also involve team leaders or assistant manager more in the hiring process. Additionally, actually perform the background checks and references.
; a lot of workers lied on their applications.

    Pros

40% discount, I met a lot of cool people while working there.

    Cons

Favoritism is played a lot by the store manager. They tell you that there is room for growth but that only works out if your store manager is doing a good job. Had many customers ask to be left alone while shopping. There is not a lot of coaching, more of just messing up, getting reviewed and not doing it again.

    Advice to Management

Reward your employees more. Overworking a good employee and not giving them a better compensation will only work for so long.

    Pros

Awesome clothes and discount, high-profit business, cool employees

    Cons

aggressive selling techniques, pushy customer service, horrible training

    Advice to Management

Tone it down with aggressive sales approaches. There are more genuine ways to sell awesome clothing.

    Pros

Good discount 40% off, wear what ever you want,

    Cons

pushy sales tactics, unrealistic expectations, commissioned based, no help or support from senior management, senior management constantly chastising, clothes fall apart, poor communication, blatant favortism

    Advice to Management

Support ALL your stores not just the select top few!

I worked at The Buckle part-time

    Pros

Can be fun, able to meet new friends, wear whatever you want, great discount.

    Cons

VERY competitive, VERY high turn over because they like new people, not because employees can't do the job. I was at the top in sales and they stopped putting me on the schedule because they want new people. Pay rate is very low, even if you are at the top sales. Management expects you to push guests to buy things which ends up making the guests feel uncomfortable and leave.

    Advice to Management

Stop making this place seem like all were about is making money, stop the turnover. Wouldn't you rather have employees who know what they're doing and have years of experience than constantly hire new employees and have to train them?

I worked at The Buckle full-time

    Pros

Communicating with guests was great, and the store manager was flexible with schedule making. Great career opportunities and lots of room for growth.

    Cons

I found that selling was harder when there wasn't a specific goal to reach, and being a manager, there wasn't a commission perk. I didn't come from retail before I started here, so I didn't know what I was getting into.

    Advice to Management

Make it more exciting for assistant managers to sell, especially if they cannot receive the benefit of commission selling.

I worked at The Buckle part-time

    Pros

good discount, new fashions, laid back environment

    Cons

based on commission so everyone is mean and competitive, I dread going to work

    Advice to Management

Schedule your most competitive people together and your nicer people together.

I worked at The Buckle as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

it was a very challenging atmosphere, there were great coworkers to work with, relatively flexible schedule, manager teaches you about sales, great networking system

    Cons

They really push you on sales, they are specific in how they want you to approach customers, they push you to do a lot of work even though you are only paid minimum wage

    Advice to Management

be more organized and trusting in your employees and be more open to different styles of selling
