    Pros

Great working environment, great staff teams and managers. Loads of work on improving working conditions at the organisation. New flexi-working being introduced/trialled. Impact for young people and partners. Inclusion/ mental health support for young people on programmes. Lots of new good and relevant training being introduced

    Cons

Pay for work you do is not the best because you would get paid a lot more for your title and the work you do in s lot of other organisations but understandably this is due to us being a charity. Opportunities for progression can be limited to short term roles or a really long wait Work life balance during the delivery of our programmes can be quite hectic Interview process which favours the person that can interview...

Lots of change but this isn't always a bad thing. Intense delivery period where it's a struggle to maintain a positive work/life balance. If you're up for the challenge it's so worth it - The Challenge does great things.

    Advice to Management

Keep evolving and making positive change and make sure everyone is on board.

    Pros

Charity doing great work and having an impact on seriously high numbers of young people across the country. Colleagues are friendly and supportive, and it is a fun, young-ish workforce, especially in some departments. Management is supportive, appreciative of effort, and understanding of mistakes. There are high expectations, but there isn’t any sort of blame culture etc. There are some good organisational benefits...

    Cons

Fast-paced atmosphere can be demanding, and at particular times workload is high. As with lots of charities, the offices aren’t too flashy (depending on which office youre in) and money is spent carefully. The pay is what you’d expect for the sector, so if you want to be a millionaire look elsewhere!

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at The Challenge full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

80% staff are only there for 3 month so don't see the real organisation.

    Cons

Staff are continually lied to about organisation decision. Staff welfare isn't valued at all the same mistakes are made year after year with false promises to correct things. Safety of young people is not considered The Challenge will cut any and all corners to make the programme as profitable as it can be to pay for the CEOs stacked director team and prop up its other failing...

I worked at The Challenge full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

As a result of high turnover of staff on all levels development opportunities are always available. It has the “friends or friends” type of recruitment style, so once you are in there are opportunities to move into other roles quite quickly. The people delivering the programmes go above and beyond for the young people, they are the people who make it worthwhile to be there. Unfortunately they are often pushed to bringing...

    Cons

Starts off as a fun relaxed place to work, then it soon wears off as you’re expected to work yourself into the ground running an NCS programme that is full of flaws. More recently the programme lacks in quality and seems more of a number and target game instead of looking at the right support for the young people attending. Huge lack of transparency between senior management...
