    Terrible management at my location

    Dec 7, 2020 - Cashier

    Pros

None that I can think of except a few individual coworkers I’ve built good relationships with. Some managers were great, about half.

    Cons

I have worked at companies before where the management was great. Almost all of my jobs in the past I loved, but the Cheesecake Factory is currently not that. People talk and talk and talk. Instead of working, servers are on their phones. I used to work at a restaurant where they told us not to be on phones because of the bacteria that can be spread from hand to phone to food contact. Half the time the cooks don’t even wear gloves. Most of the servers don’t even like working there and constantly complain. Every time I walk in it feels like I have to wade through water just to feel like I’m making a difference. It is absolutely ridiculous. I have never worked anywhere where people talk behind your back, are intrusive and will spy on you and who you talk to.

Toxic Work Environment at TCF at Dolphin Mall

    Aug 2, 2022 - Baker/Barista in Miami, FL
    Recommend

    Business Outlook

    Pros

Good hourly rate compared to most basic jobs: $14; different food purchasing options for employees (discounts or free)

    Cons

Lack of management presence compounded the issue of employees in the bakery behaving disrespectfully and aggressively towards guests and coworkers. It was a nightmare working with such awful people.

Easy to be taken advantage of

Jan 2, 2013 - Server in Glendale, CA
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Hiring for front of house is reasonably selective which results in a solid team of competent coworkers who are generally friendly and helpful. Very flexible schedule.

    Cons

Unpleasant clientele is more than willing to take advantage of the policy to offer free meals for any sort of complaint. Example: A guest eats his entire dish, asks for a manager and says it "tastes funny" gets the meal that he already ate for free.

Good place to work part-time or full time if you want to make a career out of it

    Apr 19, 2022 - Server
    Recommend

    Business Outlook

    Pros

    - flexible schedule - promotes management within for outstanding employees (I can think of at least 2 coworkers that were promoted from server to manager) - they have many locations nationally so it's easy to relocate to another cheesecake if you need to move regions/states

    Cons

    - this could only be a problem at specific locations, but where I worked I would sometimes have to deal with hostile kitchen staff who could make the shift a little difficult.

    Don’t get comfortable

Jun 23, 2021 - Barista in Fort Lauderdale, FL
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

If you work well under pressure the tips are usually worth it. You also get pretty steady schedules and your coworkers usually want more hours so they’re always willing to do trade-offs with you. The restaurant also gives employees free meals so that’s a plus that you don’t have to pay for food all the time. And if you want to venture off into other positions there’s lots of opportunities to do so.

    Cons

The bakery can be unorganized and extremely busy. You will have to work fast during dinner rush and lunch rush and then the day before holidays you won’t be able to get off because those are usually large order days for desserts, so they are considered blackout days you can’t have off.

    Pros

    Recruitment Marketing Manager

One-star reviews hurt. We're so disappointed that you had such a negative experience working with us. If any staff members made you feel uncomfortable or were acting in a way that wasn't in line with our culture and policies, we hope you felt comfortable enough notifying a manager or staff relations. One of our TOP priorities is creating a great work environment with great people. Great people give great experiences to our guests , which is what we're all about. Even though you no longer work for us, you can still call our staff relations department at any time to discuss any personnel issues. Our number is 818-871-3000. We hope you won't let this experience deter you from considering us again in the future as an employer!

Company News
Meet our Women's Network Group (WNG)! Since 2014, WNG has helped facilitate the professional growth of managers across our Cheesecake Factory, Grand Lux Cafe and North Italia restaurants. WNG members have described the program as a safe space to address challenges and concerns within their restaurants and the industry without judgement. Monthly learning groups and webinars allow members to collaborate on development projects and build connections with women across the company. Women are also paired with a GM or EKM mentor outside of their area who they can meet with, learn from and lean on for support. As one member shared, “Talking to my mentor and the other women in the group has really inspired me and helped me keep my passion and drive to impact as much as I possibly can every single shift.” Another said, “This group has helped me so much in my career. WNG is a forever bond, a sisterhood I have with amazing women that are in leadership that can support and mentor other women.”
