    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at The Child Center of NY part-time for more than a year

    Pros

The kids are wonderful, staff are friendly, many staff outings that are fun

    Cons

A lot of work for no pay, Bosses can be rude and come into work with attitudes sometimes,

    Advice to Management

Whatever happens in your personal life, keep it at your house. You can't come in to work and have an attitude and take it out on your staff. Its not fair. Also follow your own advice and stop being on your phone.

I have been working at The Child Center of NY part-time for less than a year

    Pros

I think you can make the experience what you want it to be. If you're in school, this is a good position because it's flexible. You can be creative and learn new skills. It can teach you about yourself.

    Cons

The pay isn't grade for the position, which requires a lot of work. Depending on your career goals, it is very limiting and may not be the best place to grow professionally.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to be more organized. While working with children a lot of unexpected things happen, but it's important to have a plan rather than a go with the flow attitude.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook

I worked at The Child Center of NY part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

You get to change the lives of children. Helping them with homework and guiding them through different activities makes you feel like you are definitely having an impact in who they shape themselves to be.

    Cons

I've been working there for the past 5 years as a group leader.. I have a dual degree. And they've promoted people to management that don't even hold a degree. They fill you up with compliments but all for nothing. A lot of expectations and very low pay , no benefits etc. The only reason staff show up is for the kids! That's about it. Absolutely no incentive. No room for growth. You have to know someone who... knows someone who knows someone.

    Advice to Management

Screen your employees. Respect their level of experience. Make sure you are consistent with your evaluations and consider promoting from within, while RESPECTING SENIORITY. This will help in making your foundation stronger and help avoid disputes between your employees.

I worked at The Child Center of NY

    Pros

The Social workers and counselors care for the students. Even as a part-time worker, my boss gave great directions, and was around to help most of the time

    Cons

It seemed as if resources were scarce. Some projects were impossible due to budgets

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work.
