I worked at The Child Center of NY (More than a year)

    Pros

You get to go on trips with kids like Coney Island, if kids parents throw parties you get free food.

    Cons

You have to take care of kids, escort them to bathroom if they are young, and some kids are really bad and difficult to deal with.

    Advice to Management

Do not favor employees over others, everyone should be on same level if they have the same position

    Pros

The kids are wonderful, staff are friendly, many staff outings that are fun

    Cons

A lot of work for no pay, Bosses can be rude and come into work with attitudes sometimes,

    Advice to Management

Whatever happens in your personal life, keep it at your house. You can't come in to work and have an attitude and take it out on your staff. Its not fair. Also follow your own advice and stop being on your phone.

I worked at The Child Center of NY (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You become cultured, you meet different types of families, you learn how to tutor and help children. Family oriented, and the staff is about team work

    Cons

Low pay, constant changes of supervisors, cut backs to the program, so you're never sure if you'll keep your job

    Advice to Management

Give employees more of an opportunity to expand their knowledge of the program. That way they can take on more responsibility, and expand their resume.

    Pros

great for recent college students that need hands on experience. The foundation of the program is excellent, although it has changed a lot but still have some of it. Teachers, put a lot of heart on it, working with children

    Cons

Low salary, poor benefits, long hours. No real appreciation for all the work teachers are doing. Management need to improve their communication and how they do it with personnel.

    Advice to Management

Need to review how the personnel is feeling in each center, how they think management can improve their relationship with staff. Use for this process someone outside the center to do it.

    Cons

It seemed as if resources were scarce. Some projects were impossible due to budgets

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work.
