    Pros

Benefits and some mid management people.

    Cons

Very much into who you know, not what you know. Very clickish.

    Advice to Management

Practice what you preach. It is very disconcerning when upper management's conduct breaks all the rules and policies that they have created. It is also management responsibility to train employees, regardless of job title, in the area that they are going to be working in. Exposing them to the people and tools that they would be working on a daily during the first two weeks of employment would help significantly in that employee transitioning successfully into his/her role.

Training needs to take a priority in talent development. When it is treated as an after thought, the company and the employees will suffer and morale and job dissatisfaction will occur.

    Pros

Good discount, Friendly employees, If you like kids...then it's fun.

    Cons

As an associate I had no training, management never on the floor, overworked staff, underpaid for the work, get call-in shifts instead of regular shifts, maybe one regular shift a week, no room to move up, get called in on your days off, poor merchandising, too many floor sets, no order in the back room, High expectations for conversion and daily duties, High expectations to sell credit cards.

    Advice to Management

My advice to managers is train your employees if you want them to help the store succeed. Hire employees that actually want and need to work. Help the employees on the floor so there not bouncing around from the cash wrap to their section to the customers.

    Pros

Pay is comparable for those starting their first job, but don't expect much in the way of pay raises. Scheduling is very flexible, clothing is of very good quality with a great price. Has a very good customer base. Benefits are very, very good!

    Cons

This is definitely not a job for someone who really needs the hours. Hours one week could be 20 hours and then the next week they could be 4 hours. If you can get in with a good Regional, District, and Store manager you will love the job, but if not, it's not worth the stress. It's also very hard to move up within the company. Seems like they tend to not hire within the company. Not sure for the reasoning...may be afraid of losing their own job if they are not doing it well.

    Advice to Management

Management really needs to care more about their employees in their stores. I have been seeing a lot of seasoned employees leaving because of management issues.

    Pros

quality clothing, affordable. Flexible schedule if you are an assistant manager.

    Cons

Have to have extremely flexible schedule. Not enough planning time for floor changes, sales and promotions. Poor leadership from upper management. Intimidation, not real leadership.

    Advice to Management

2/2 coverage all the time, leaves no time for real training of associates or management. Expectations are ridiculous. Payroll is a joke, most of your hours are slotted for Saturdays even though there is a heavy workload monday through friday.

    Pros

Many of the associates and leads are incredibly willing to help and get along with each other, creating an atmosphere of harmony.

    Cons

Lower management very difficult to get along with at times combative and unresponsive.new associate have little or no chace to get sufficent train and support if fell into the incorrect group or on the wrong side of a particular person.

    Advice to Management

More direct contact with supervisors and associate bypassing the main HR person, for accurate and non whitewashed feedback

    Pros

Being new to the retail field and my first management experience, I can definitely say that The Children's Place was an excellent start. The hours were as expected, the workload was heavy but kept you busy and moving, and the employees working with you are excellent.

    Cons

First, the biggest downside was the lack of integrity and trust between managers from other stores. If you say one thing it gets turned into something else and makes you look like the bad guy.

Second, the lack of training is definitely a big part of it. It seemed rushed and the correct support and time necessary to learn the job was not there.

Lastly, if there is an issue, such as missing time on a paycheck, it takes a very long time to get it resolved.

    Advice to Management

Take a step back and visit all the stores so you can see how things are done. Improve upon certain policies and procedures, especially training, so everyone is on the same page.
