I have been working at The Children's Place full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

good benefits and PTO for full time employees

    Cons

-very high wage gap between assistant store manager and manager considering you work the same 40 hrs and as an ASM you would be responsible to know how to the store manager's job if they were to ever be out for a long period of time or quit
-stingy on payroll hours, they don't want to pay what it takes to have a efficiently running store, although it wouldn't take much more than payroll hours than it does now
-they don't give enough payroll hours to accomodate all the updates or changes they want throughout the store
-low pay compared to similar retail stores

    Advice to Management

try to keep your head above water

"You cannot be a Store Manager in this company and have the time to train and develop your people."

    Pros

Customers love our product quality which ultimately makes it easy to convert mom to a forever shopper. Decent associate discount. Management staff immediately gets over 17 days Vacation time, plus extra sick days. AM gets comp days for certain holidays.

    Cons

As Store Manager you do not get paid over time. The company is cutting back on Payroll all the time so you as a non exempt store manager are required to pick up the workload, causing you to be over worked and underappreciated. You do not get the time to train your staff in a non hostile environment. Everything has to be done on the sales floor because you are 2/2 coverage at all times. Usually even on weekends. You will become a manager with many hats and it's hard to juggle ALL of the tasking the comes with TCP and still focus on your customers.

    Advice to Management

I would definitely not take this job if you have other options. But, if this is your only choice I would tell you to be prepared to work from off the clock alot if you want to really impress your superior. If you are someone whose opportunity is time management... DO NOT take this role. It is not a job where you van learn time management because you will NEVER catch up. You will constantly be chasing your own tail. Find staff members with integrity because it is easy to get away with stuff through this company. Make sure you focus on coaching in the moment because that's the only training you can do here. No such thing as a sit down meeting with this company and go over things. Its always a headache no matter what day of the week is.

    Pros

    Pay, customers, associates, discounts,
Other than that this companys culture is difficult if you like your life not job for you. Will spend 50-70 hours a week in store.

    Cons

Shipment,Stock, paperwork, payroll, no life balance, little to no training, unnessary floorsets and updates.

    Advice to Management

Transfer old clothes out to make room for new clothes. Stores would be so much easier to maintain and sale thru. Might actually get done with some of the shipment and paper work if 10 bundles of the same shirt wasnt sent out in 4 diffrent boxes.
