    Pros

Customers love our product quality which ultimately makes it easy to convert mom to a forever shopper. Decent associate discount. Management staff immediately gets over 17 days Vacation time, plus extra sick days. AM gets comp days for certain holidays.

    Cons

As Store Manager you do not get paid over time. The company is cutting back on Payroll all the time so you as a non exempt store manager are required to pick up the workload, causing you to be over worked and underappreciated. You do not get the time to train your staff in a non hostile environment. Everything has to be done on the sales floor because you are 2/2 coverage at all times. Usually even on weekends. You will become a manager with many hats and it's hard to juggle ALL of the tasking the comes with TCP and still focus on your customers.

    Advice to Management

I would definitely not take this job if you have other options. But, if this is your only choice I would tell you to be prepared to work from off the clock alot if you want to really impress your superior. If you are someone whose opportunity is time management... DO NOT take this role. It is not a job where you van learn time management because you will NEVER catch up. You will constantly be chasing your own tail. Find staff members with integrity because it is easy to get away with stuff through this company. Make sure you focus on coaching in the moment because that's the only training you can do here. No such thing as a sit down meeting with this company and go over things. Its always a headache no matter what day of the week is.

    Pros

You basically can't be fired. You can no call no show, be late, call out all the time. For a sales associate, this is a pro, for a manager, this sucks. The manager has to jump through hoops to get anyone fired, usually it's not worth the effort.

    Cons

Along with all the others on here about hours, workload/labor, low wages so hard to get keep good help. This has to be one of the least appreciative companies in the world. Their view on things is "if you can and will do it for this much, let's threaten you and make you do more for less." Upper management uses degrading tactics to make you stretch yourself too thin. Example: if you don't get enough people to sign up for their credit card, you must write a song and sing it on a conference call. Yet when you do make your goals, you get rewarded with higher ones as the one you just made must have been too easy. If you run a good store and you can get your tasks about 90% done, your payroll hours will be taken and given to another store in your district who's only 50% done. If you're trying to advance in this company, they will give you a spill about how the company only allows raises for internal employees at a certain percent, so you might get a dollar or two for taking on a higher position. Yet they will hire someone from outside the company and pay them 4-5 dollars more. It's a terrible tactic to someone who's loyal to the company and is trying to work their way up from a sales associate. The company is run by a smorgasbord of people that they have brought over from other companies. Therefor you have ten different way of doing things thrown at you and depending on the management who sees you, you may or may not be doing it the right way.

    Advice to Management

For God's sake, read some of these reviews and make some changes. Appreciate your employees instead of treating them like they are peons because they don't wear suits and ties and work in the corporate world. Realize that they are the ones who make the sales that pay your salaries. Degrading your employees by making them sing a song or write a poem does not encourage a better outcome, it makes them hate their job and their upper management. How about adding some positive reinforcement for actually making goals instead of negative for missing them.
And get rid of Jane. She's rated and praised in magazines about being one of the highest paid women in retail, yet as a company, you pay minimum wage and expect to have associates and managers work at the same level as Gap and Justice?!?! You're kidding yourself. Read the bad reviews about your company and do something about it. Stop ignoring the calls for action. And while I'm on that note, you wouldn't have to send out emails about what to do in the event of a protest or a walkout, if you listened to your employees, even if it is just through an anonymous source like glass door, and make some changes.

    Pros

There's always something new everyday keeping you refreshed and on your toes. Whether its floorset, price changes, or visual updates.

    Cons

Not nearly enough payroll hours to properly train and develop each associate. The company demands a ton in such a small time frame, with little to no help with a solution to get to the finish line.

I have been working at The Children's Place full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    A lot of vacation time

    Cons

Oh me where do I start.
Store managers aren't able to rate anything on the associate's appraisal that actually effects the overall appraisal rating. Ratings and raises are determined only by store results and not individual performance.
      - absurd amount of work to be done with quick turn arounds and no support in payroll allocation.
      - on all reports that are available to stores we had one rating but when it came to our appraisals those ratings were different than all of the reports. This saved the company money because they only had to give us a very small raise instead of the bigger one that we deserved and had documentation of.

    Advice to Management

listen.... simply listen to your store managers. We are in the thick of everything. We know what is working and what is not. Support your stores, engage with your teams, listen to their needs, and create a game plan to make the company better.

    Pros

Lots of time off, PTO, paid holidays, sick time, etc., provided you can maintain a full management staff with higher than average turnover.

    Cons

Limited career progression, they have eliminated hundreds of ASM positions and dozens of DM positions over the last two years, in order to maximize their bottom line.
Awarded then revoked pay raises for lower volume managers

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to your people, your high turn at the store management level and above should be a red flag that something is work with your "people" outlook

    Pros

    Great discount! Flexible hrs.

    Cons

Not a good company to work for! They don't care about any employees. Upper management and at store level. There are favorites and that's who gets the hrs! No payroll and minimum wage for Associates. So u get 8 hrs a week and get $7.70 a hr. And SM expect way to much!

    Advice to Management

Have more experience SM that actually know how to run a store! The associate turn over rate is ridiculous! Stop spending so much on marketing! It is ridiculous the amount you sent to stores and that we don't even use! Fix your replenish system it is awful! return policy needs to change! You are losing a ton of customers!!

I worked at The Children's Place full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Amazing pay and Pretty good discount

    Cons

Ridiculous amount of workload on very small coverage. (We only had two people in the store at all times except on Holidays.)
Unhelpful DMs (Did not listen to feedback or care.)
You are given a LOT of unnecessary reports and paperwork to fill out that take time away from your workload
Price changes multiple times a week
Marketing changes multiple times a week
Floor changes multiple times a week
No extra payroll for said floor changes, also not allowed to work on floor changes when the store is closed
On top of everything else, you receive shipment five days a week (and no extra payroll to do it.)
If you like working with customers and selling, this isn't the job for you. You will not have any time to spent with customers and your ONE associate likely won't either.

    Advice to Management

You can't handle the workload without working 50-60 hours a week or coming in on your off day. (on salary)
