I have been working at The Children's Place full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

the only pro is if you have children. Employees get a 30% discount.

    Cons

This list is never ending :
    1. not allowed to prosecute shoplifters, they come in every week and there's nothing you can do
    2. District Managers are completely two faced! They'll tell you and anyone below you one thing, then go behind your back and talk smack.
    3. You will ALWAYS be short staffed; pay is too low for anyone to want to work. If you're the ASM, good luck having a life.
    4. No work/life balance. management's lack of responsibility to make sure there is a Plan B results you to have your schedule changes while you are there or constantly being called or texted on your day off
    5. Constant threats that if you are not perfect, you will be replaced.
    6. UNREAL work expectations!
    7. I was not given a chance to use my 70 hours of EARNED paid time off
    8. 12 hour days with only one 30 minute break.

    Advice to Management

Be honest with everyone, stop giving empty promises

    Pros

Fun team of employees, flexible hours for college students and mothers looking to work part time, great employee discount on merchandise

    Cons

Corporate doesn't invest in employees, little growth available, low hourly pay with pointless and uncommon raises (10 cents), HR is not confidential as they say they are, not enough hours are given to stores to allow for the coverage for people to take breaks during an eight hour shift, unrealistic expectations of meeting complex deadlines with no additional hours or coverage to complete the project,

    Advice to Management

Store level management is great! It's the district level and beyond that creates a negative work environment.

I worked at The Children's Place part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They have a very good starting salary and are not afraid to give a raise to employees who deserve it.

    Cons

Overworked during peak holiday and then when business slows they are completely over staffed and sales people lose hours.

    Advice to Management

Respect your employees. For the most part these people have a job for a reason no matter the age. Avoid hiring more people to the store that are not seasonal workers or you will definitely lose your current employees.

    Pros

The only pro that comes with being an associate at TCP is that they are flexible in hours.

    Cons

You do not get paid well, receive little to no training, and they expect perfection. The turn around rate is terrible in the 1.5 years I've been there we gained and lost at least a dozen employees.

    Advice to Management

    Pay your employees better.

    Advice to Management

How do you expect people to stay if you don't pay them well?

I worked at The Children's Place part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The only pro getting a paycheck. The work isn't hard at all. You're in a cool environment and I mean temperature wise.

    Cons

You're lucky if you work 20 hours a week. There are two black people in the store, I am one of them. There is a white girl and a Spanish girl. Everyone schedule is posted on the same chart. How come me and the other Black girl consistently get 8 hours a week, but the Spanish girl and the white girl consistently get 18 or 20 hours a week and allow them to stay to get more hours? Today, I had 4 hours. I forced to clock out 1 hour early because someone else clocked in. What the hell? There is definitely a lot of favoritism. At the end of the shift, the managers don't help clean anything. The white girl and the Spanish girl goes to the back and laugh and play and eat while we have responsibility of cleaning the bathroom and folding clothes and sweeping the floor. I put in my two weeks notice and I'm glad. Who creates a business to hire people so they can work 3 hours a day or 8 hours a week?

    Advice to Management

Check in on your stores more often. Change the way the schedules are done.

I worked at The Children's Place part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Discount was very good.
Friendly staff for the most part.
Fun place to see babies and meet other mothers from the area

    Cons

I did everything the higher management would do and get paid dirt for doing it.
Lots of work and no hours.
    No benefits
     No where to move up
When higher ups would come in they would look over you like you were dirt.

    Advice to Management

    Appreciate your workers
