I worked at The Christian Post full-time

    Pros

I enjoyed coming to work each day and working with the great group of people on the team.

    Cons

Working here was overall a very positive experience for me.

    Advice to Management

Keep making things better. I saw a lot of positive improvements during my time with CP, which were very encouraging to me and I know they were for the whole team.

I worked at The Christian Post (More than a year)

    Pros

I must enter at least 5 words in this block. There you go.

    Cons

....how does this place have 3.8 stars? If i could give no stars i would. Low compensation (as in it can barely be thought of as a salary), no mentorship, no leadership, terrible communication.

    Pros

Really, there are none. Their past performance in terms of hiring, retaining and building up their business is non-existent.

    Cons

The company relies on paid traffic to their sites to puff up their site analytic stats. This allows them to court more ad network partners. These fraudulent practices have resulted in a terrible user experience on their main sites.

    Advice to Management

Please stop posting fake reviews as these are really transparent. Try to adhere to basic SEO practices when it comes to content posting, page load times and user experience.

I worked at The Christian Post full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Has a unique vision of combining evangelical faith with real journalism. There is flexibility to try out new ideas and experiment with topics and beats. Even if you're a newer reporter, they give you serious assignments and celebrity interviews - a lot of room to develop if you work hard to improve your craft.

    Cons

No room to slack off. Need to be "on" all the time during work hours, and sometimes after. They expect you to have individual initiative and pump out good quality stories at a fast pace.

    Advice to Management

Hire more staff to cover more beats.

    Pros

    Flexible hours
    Work from home
    Make your own luck here

    Cons

    - No supervision or accountability.
    - A non existent HR department with clueless management.
    - Every week the checks were late and our insurance was dropped for over 3 months before they notified us.
    - Sold pipe dreams of a changing and growing company which resulting in them laying off the entire office with no warning.
    - Use "Christianity" and "God" to execute horrific business tactics and policies.
    - Embarrassingly low pay and benefits.
    - Management does not care about employees and were perfectly fine with no one even showing up to work for weeks at a time.
    - Never told if you were doing a good job, but were suddenly reprimanded for a bad one with no warning.
    - Unrealistic goals and constant changing of roles.
    - Toxic work environment with altercations happening almost weekly.
    - Complainers, lazy workers, and team "cancers" rewarded.

    And on and on....

    Advice to Management

Stop writing phony reviews. There were 12 people working in the office the last 3 years, and none of us were happy. So these made up reviews are conning more people into this cult like atmosphere.

Spend less time making a joke of the day and figure out how not to make a joke of your employees.

    Pros

There is genuine love and care in this job. A tight knit team of people working together for a good cause.

    Cons

More organization is needed here but it's getting better. The staff was invited to pray together recently which is a great step for unity.

    Advice to Management

The staff are with you, we just always need to know you care about us and love us. The little things go a long way.

    Pros

The company has a great vision to publish news and be the voice of Christians around the world. A blessed place to work where I can practice both my personal values and skills. Friendly people to work with.

    Cons

Could be more competitive in compensation.

    Advice to Management

    Pros

1 - I cannot think of one. The salary range is low, there were absolutely no benefits when I was working there

    Cons

1 - This media organization is not an objective newspaper but a propagator of a specific political/religious agenda. They don't hide that fact, indeed they train reporters to be subjective and write pieces form an anti-choice, anti-gay-rights perspective. Their actions stand in direct violation of the code of journalistic ethics. I couldn't stand working there.
    2 - The management is often openly rude to staff and humiliates reporters, yells at them. The general work atmosphere I've experienced there is the worst one I've experienced in my life;

    Advice to Management

Dear Managment, stop submitting these fake positive reviews. To anyone who has worked there it is obvious that you wrote them. Every single reporter that I've worked with at the CP hated the job and hung on to it only because of a very difficult job situation on the media market.
