    Pros

Really flexible schedule, am able to take time off or leave early if needed.

    Cons

Dress code is business casual :( I miss shorts, flip flops, and hats.

    Advice to Management

Haven't really seen a lot of room to grow from my current position. Management doesn't seem to interested in my growth as I'm only a contract worker.

I have been working at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints full-time

    Pros

Great benefits, employee discounts, competitive pay for the industry. Several retirement savings account options. Feel part of a good cause.

    Cons

Experience and expertise not appreciated or rewarded. Seems unlikely to move from one position to another; does not tend to hire from within.

    Advice to Management

Offer advancement opportunities to current employees who have earned it. It discourages employees to see outside sources have a better chance at a better position than those qualified and already working within the organization.

I worked at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a contractor

    Pros

The ICS Department had a great environment, very friendly towards the work/family balance. Had fantastic coworkers. Even though the tasks were repetitive, I always felt like I was getting things done and making a difference.

    Cons

There are a lot of contingent (contract) employees in roles that could have been permanent, so there was lots of turnover which made workflow bumpy/stall in a few areas.

    Advice to Management

Overall work enjoyment/job security could improve if more contingents were made permanent

I have been working at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints full-time

    Pros

Overall work environment is wonderful. We all have a shared cause and that drives our work.

    Good benefits.

Lots of different kinds of jobs available - there are different places to go and learn

    Cons

Difficulty advancing in one line of work. You have to make lateral moves first in order to make vertical moves in salary or position.

Management is either wonderful or terrible. There is very little in-between. Matrix organization of management is confusing and creates a disconnect between the actual work and your manager.

    Advice to Management

Allow more time for people management. Don't give managers day jobs and then expect them do manage groups on the side. People management should be their first priority, with stretch assignments on the side, not the other way around.
